Everyone knows that Apple had a great fourth quarter and that its most successful product line, the iPhone, is doing better than ever, too.
But it's difficult to grasp what a mind-blowingly successful company Apple is until you take the time to gather and digest news about the company that has emerged in the past week or two.
I've done it. And it has become obvious to me that Apple is not only successful, not only the most successful company in technology, not only the most successful company in the world but the most successful company in the history of companies.
Is that an extreme statement? Maybe. But let me make my case, and we'll see if you disagree.
Here are the 11 ways that Apple is the most successful company in history.
All of these successes add up to Apple clearly being the most successful company in history. No other company has ever made this much money, won on so many fronts or positioned itself to keep on winning.

Apple is not an American company when it uses so much foreign labor then also keeps the cash outside the US. Sorry, but if the work is not done in the US and the profits are held outside the US, it isn’t a US company any of us give a crap about. Apple does very little good for the US. What, a few engineers in Kali and a few retail stores and that’s about it? Apple sells foreign made goods and keeps the proceeds outside the US; it is a foreign corporation. Apple pays me $200,000 a year to say good things about them on Free Republic. Apple knows that Free Republic is a virtually untapped market for them so they feel the money is well spent. And I just spent some of that money tonight at my favorite Chinese restaurant.
So anyway, lots of people yapping here about "overpriced" Apple products. Fact is, Apple cannot make product fast enough to fill demand. If anything, Apple underprices their products, as the law of supply and demand dictates that Apple should raise their prices until such time demand is met in a timely manner.
If Apple doubled the prices of their products, they would still be a bargain. I would happily pay $1,000 up front for my iPhone 6+ as it is pretty phenomenal to have a computer in my pocket. The $399 I did pay is an absolute bargain. (The 2 year contract would be the case even if I chose a cheaper device.)
The MacBook Pro I own is probably worth around $5,000. However, I was able to get it for just $2,499.
In my opinion, Apple is greatly underpricing their product. But I'm not complaining.
I’ve never been an Apple fan. Unfortunately, there was no good replacement for my old Palm PDA other than an iPod Touch. So I bought Apple stock at the same time, figured that if it increased in value, it would pay for my iPod Touch. Now, three years later, the increase in the value of my Apple stock has paid for a Toshiba laptop, two iPod Touches, two Google Nexus 7” tablets, and, as of this week, an iPad Air 2. It will also pay for whichever cell phone my husband decides to get when he retires next year. I’m still not an Apple fan, but at least my Apple stock offsets my reluctance to buy anything Apple. :-)
You should give them a try. . . and you might find out why you've been able to pay for all that tech stuff. You might also find that your iPod would work better with an Apple computer than with the Windows computer.
The interaction between my PC and my iPod Touch is fairly minimal. I use MediaMonkey to handle the music on my PC and it has done a great job at transferring music to my iPod Touch. I have an app to download my Google calendar to my iPod Touch. If I need to transfer spreadsheets or pdfs or photos to my iPod Touch or tablets, Dropbox works great. Windows does everything I need my computer to do. I fail to see the advantage of an Apple computer.
You see, that's what you would learn. What you are missing is the Apple ecosystem, ConstantSkeptic. Apple has not built a series of separate devices that stand alone. That's what every one who doesn't understand how Apple works misses entirely and why they think that their mix of devices from multiple makers, patched together with apps from here and there, is just as good. It isn't. Apple has made a system that is totally transparent to the user. . . invisible. You don't have to "work it", it works for you.
That ease of working with Apple products is what the anti-Apple people cannot grasp.

No, my main computer has been and always will be a Windows PC. It does exactly what I want it to do and has for 20+ years. I'm not a novice who needs my hand held. I buy the tool which best serves my need. If I'm not on my Windows laptop, I'm usually using my 7" Google Nexus tablet. When I bought my first Nexus, I compared it to the newly released iPad Mini. The resolution of the first iPad Mini was terrible! Buying the Nexus instead of the iPad Mini was an easy choice. Plus I love that my Nexus has built-in GPS, so I can use Google maps in the car without needing a cellular connection. No Apple handheld or tablet offers that feature.
My only Apple devices are my iPod Touch and my new iPad Air 2. Those are secondary devices to me. They serve a specific purpose, but they are secondary to my Windows PC. To replace my Windows PC with an Apple merely because I own two minor Apple devices would be to have the tail wag the dog. Ain't gonna happen.
Sorry, you did not do your research completely. Every Apple iPad with Cellular has that built in. I use it at least once a week with Apple Maps. . . and it would work as well with Google Maps. Just as I said, you would learn a lot.

My Nexus gives me GPS without using cellular. My Nexus has wi-fi only. That's all I want or need in my tablet. The wi-fi only Apple tablets do NOT include GPS. I have no desire to spend an extra $130 for cellular capability on an Apple device. The Nexus meets my needs. The wi-fi only Apple tablets do not meet my GPS requirements.
