The recidivism rate of convicted criminals is about 65% within three years.

Good for her! She should be compensated for her ammunition. I believe the State of Texas does this if it is a good shoot, and this certainly was. She saved the taxpayers of Texas a bunch of money.
I wish they would publish caliber, number of shots, shot placement, etc.....

DRT, which is good. Bring back bounties. She saved the state thousands if not millions of dollars. Pay her a fraction of the money she saved for trial and incarceration.

Just doing the job as the Sheriff requested.
Sheriff Michael Lindsey Ray
stated, Presently, as the result of underfunding and inadequate staffing at the
Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office, homeowners need to take appropriate precautions to
protect their families. I will continue to support the law abiding citizens of our community
when they are forced to take actions to protect their lives, liberty and property.

The bottom line is, once the dust settles over the budget debate it looks like the homeowner is not only safe, but will not be dragged into court because she defended herself. God bless Texas. Hell, she should be receiving a Public Service Award for trash removal!

Yeah, I get that. Currently, the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t have the budget to station an officer in everyone’s bedroom all night, every night. You know, to prevent rapes and such.

Canton Tx is an interesting place. It’s got a Chevy dealer that will open at any time if you call ahead to sell you a car. And a huge monthly trade days (flea market) on the weekend attached to the first Monday of each month. It’s a hard core old timey place.

Nice shootin' lady.
Relevant tactical information would be interesting, i.e. weapon type, caliber, shot placement, number of shots, etc, along with exactly how the guy busted in and walked into the lady's line of fire.
Anyway, +1 on the medal and parade and cash reward for her.
