Celebrating the fifth anniversary of Lets Move! First Lady Michelle Obama explains to Cooking Light magazine that she had to get empowered in her own household to eliminate processed food.
Part of that experience was her personal fight against boxed macaroni and cheese, which, she admits, her kids loved.
At the time, her chef friend Sam Kass explained that boxed macaroni and cheese wasnt real food and so the family shouldnt eat it.
My kids loved the macaroni and cheese in a box, she explained. And he said, if its not real food then were not going to do it.

My mom was not exactly the best cook (her spaghetti sauce was brown) but somehow she made the best homemade baked mac and cheese. When done right that stuff is the bomb.
The point is, though, that it isn’t any of her business.
“Let’s Move”. Good idea - move your fat a$$ out of the White House - and take the skinny liar with you.
YES! When I'm home alone ketchup on mac & cheese is a nice lunch.
What. Is the box too complicated for her to figure out how to open?
ROTFLMAO!
jeez has it been 5 years of her bullshit?
my kids will only eat the box stuff
One day my 8 year old boy sidled up to me, and in a discreet voice said “Dad, don’t tell Mom, but you make better mac and cheese”. Store brand, from the box, of course ;)
The height of praise, it was !
I agree. But Michelle needed her “chef friend” to tell her this? Such an idiot and a liar.
I love the homemade macaroni and cheese but it is time consuming. That’s why I will make it on holidays and weekends. Or... as a main meal. Then I use the leftovers with a meat side dish. With two being teens.. I double the recipe and use two pounds of macaroni yet somehow.. there is little left.
True, true!
Prayers up for your situation to improve.
Boxed Kraft mac and cheese is pretty darn good.
Once I learned how to make mac & cheese from scratch eating boxed mac & cheese was no longer an option.
“But it looks like regurgitated pasta on the plate.”
Snobbery. It looks nothing of the sort. It tastes good, and it is as healthy if not more so than homemade that people rave over. Its a good product.
Do you cook, by any chance?
You & me both dream of that day. She’s unelected & we don’t need her nutrition advice. I couldn’t afford the stuff they eat even if I wanted it & I don’t. This country will be far better off when they are gone, never to return.
Kraft mac & cheese + tuna fish makes a good backpacking meal.
Drizzle it on or stir it in. Tastes different each way and is naked to me without it.
I like it drizzled on.
