I don't know what the protrusion above the mirror is, but it looks to be outside the glass to me.

Here's a dealer photo of a new Escalade. Notice that the mirror does not have that protrusion that we see above the mirror on Jenner's car. I can't think of any 'add-on' to a rear-view mirror that would make it look like that.

Therefore it's plausible to me that the protrusion we see could be the top of a cell phone. In fact, it looks to me like it could be an iPhone 6 Plus. It's not conclusive to me that the protrusion is on the outside of the car.

Also, regarding your close-up shot of Jenner, if you look at his arm angle, it is consistent with holding a phone and if he was actually holding a phone, it makes perfect sense you would then see the top of it protruding about the side rear-view mirror. That protrusion is not part of the mirror. I think this is pretty close to a smoking gun here.

So he’s looking straight ahead. And just plows into another car. And his facial expression doesn’t change? That’s a phone in his hand. He’s looking at it. Cops are already pulling his records.

There are plenty of large pictures on the Daily Mail web site and they show no protrusion on the side mirror. So it probably was a cell phone he was holding as he drove, distracted.

It’d be interesting to have a sharper image of what is reflecting off of the rear view mirror chrome. Looks like two pine trees in the distance. Is that the other car on the bottom?
