A Toronto girls hockey league has told coaches they cannot touch players on the bench — not even on their helmets — in a zero-tolerance policy that critics say may be doing more harm than good.
Following a complaint about a congratulations doled out by a volunteer parent, the Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association this week sent coaches an email noting restrictions on when men can be in dressing rooms, a ban on social media interactions, and strict rules regarding email communication.
“On bench behaviour – under no circumstances should there be contact with the players, in any way,” reads the email from John Reynolds, who runs the house league. “Putting hands on shoulders, slapping butts, tapping them on the helmet, NOTHING, this can make some of the girls uncomfortable and you won’t know which ones, so no contact, period.”

Girl wrestlers are the bane of every wrestling coach I know. I would imagine that the coaches who are forced to let the girl on the team wouldn’t touch her with a 10 foot pole.
See where a small college in Louisiana is fielding a girl pitcher. John Hudek’s daughter. I wonder how she will fair in the dugout and hotels? The article said she throws 82 max. My 15 year old throws 85 already, she better hope for pinpoint placement and movement.
25 years ago I was a manager in an industry where the workforce was 85% female. Our marching orders were not too different from this.
A woman girls' wrestling coach here was just arrested for allegedly engaging in something like the latter part of your sentence with a female wrestler.
What if the coaches are wearing gloves?
Some of those female athletes are so butt-ugly they couldn’t get anyone to touch them.
Within 10 years the news will be filled with stories of young people who suffer from lack of human touch.
My 3 kids all came from orphanages. Two of them were regularly hugged and cuddled. One was not. The difference in their makeup today is astounding. Children need appropriate physical touch to grow.
Many of these kids grow up in daycare, spend their summer with nannies, and are later are sent to school, with their “free time” taken up in sports and other activities. What will be the effect of children spending the majority of their lives without physical touch?
You would think the boys would like it, but is actually a Big disgusting thing to most of them, they either handle it with kid gloves are get in and pin her butt quik and get it over with.
Given today’s hysteria it is probably a wise rule. One complaint and a man’s life is ruined.

I played high school football and when being sent into the game our coach would give us a send off with a good swap on the butt. Who knew? Now, almost fifty years later I find out the old tyrant was a pervert,lol sarc/

Just one more reason why parents shouldn’t be involved in youth sports. Let the kids go out and play on their own. We did it for years when we were kids.”
I played as terminator for several years in my youth BB gun wars league! Never a parent around and we all had a blast and came home intact!
I wonder if the coach can put his hand in when the captain says, “hands in team.”

I coached ice hockey for 20 years. One of my female players used to get dressed with the boys. She said she is part of the team and doesn’t want to be treated special. Her parents agreed. I had a hard time accepting this.
At the first practice one of my male players did a strip tease in front of her, showing her his junk. These are 13-14 year olds. At was at this moment I knew this was going to blow up in everyone’s face, be on the news and USA hockey was going to have kittens.
She looked at his junk and without blinking an eye pointed at it and started laughing hysterically. The player quit that evening and my female player got dressed with the male players for the rest of the season. There was never another word said.
