We, as a country, love weird things. We celebrate it, wear T-shirts proclaiming our weirdness, and enshrine oddities that probably should have gone out with the trash a decade ago. And thats okay.
At Yahoo Travel, we went in search of weird, wonderful, and wacky museums that are worth going out of your way to see.

Everyone says obola thinks there are 57 states. That’s bs. When asked where he had campaigned, he said 57 and had one more to go and would not be visiting Alaska or Hawaii. He thinks there are 60.
fits, gotta alotta double talkin' stock-puppets here.
Every state? What about the other 7?
Wow, the Silver Ball Museum! Gotta go!
There is the Boron, California 20 Mule Team Museum.
It’s right above Edwards AFB, is free and is about Borax and boron mining. Has stuff about Ronald Reagan as well, as he was host of Death Valley Days.
It’s not weird, but is a cool little museum.

A Hoot!
Thanks for the post
In one of those “What the Heck” moments we visited the Spam Museum in Austin MN. Spent over three hours there. How it’s made. Who eats the stuff. Fascinating stories of how Spam contributed to WWII. Letters from Ike. Have told all our friends to check it out. Proudly displaying our Spam magnet on the fridge.
That really is a great place to visit.
The museum is fascinating.Graveyard of the lakes.
Toured the museum to the music of Gordon Lghtfoot .
We spent about two hrs in there.
Love Michigan...in the summer.
This is one of the greatest museums ever.
I've been twice. Most recently about 10 years ago where it was well, made more "family friendly".
I saw it first in the 80s.
Back then they had the "brain room", the "heart room", and the shreds of James Garfield's spine exhibit.
So fascinating.
Anyone interested in military medicine and history needs to see this place.
Did you see the preserved largest impacted colon(worlds largest turd) ever surgically removed?
wait 57...?
There used to be a menstruation museum in Maryland a while back. I don’t know if it’s still in operation.
Not really a museum but there’s a life sized replica of Stonehenge in Maryhill Washington
It’s only open once a month-call ahead.
No. I saw something like that at the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia.
The megacolon was filled with straw.
At Walter Reed I DID see a ginormous amputated leg in formaldehyde, from a soldier who had it removed during the Civil War. I recommend BOTH museums for history and medical buffs.
For Nebraska, they should have had the “Liars Hall of Fame”. Bill Clinton visited it during the ONLY visit he made to the State while President. The curator bowed to him (and rightly so).
Anybody on a longish trip driving I-90 should visit the Spam Museum. It’s right off the highway, it’s free, and it’s fun — everything you need for a break on a long drive.
Another place we like to stop along there (although only in warmer weather) is for the Green Giant statue in Blue Earth. Nothing to see except the Giant, but kids enjoy running around the little park there and climbing the stairs to get their picture taken with him and whatnot. We usually pack our own sandwiches, buzz in to the Blue Earth Piggly Wiggly and pick up crudites and chips, then have a picnic there.
I particularly liked the do-it-yourself recipe.
They closed after 28 years.
