Morrissey has scrapped a gig in Iceland due to the venue refusing to not sell meat on the night of the show.
The famously vegetarian Morrissey insists that any venue he plays goes meat-free on the night of his performance. However, as confirmed by fansite True-To-You, the Harpa Concert Hall in Rekjavik would not agree to the terms and the gig is now canceled.
"I love Iceland and I have waited a long time to return, but I shall leave the Harpa Concert Hall to their cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust," Morrissey said in a statement.
Morrissey tours the UK next month. The short outing begins at Nottingham's Capital FM Arena on March 13, taking in dates in Bournemouth, Cardiff, Leeds and Glasgow before wrapping up at Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena on March 27.
Morrissey's 2014 tour which the singer described as "what I may risk calling our best tour ever" included just one UK date, at London's O2 Arena. The performer listed the London date as his favourite gig of the year in an end-of-tour message.
However, a European tour last year was met with a number of setbacks including the singer cancelling dates in Greece and Turkey. A gig in Germany was ended shortly after a stage invasion and he walked off stage during his Poland show after being heckled by a fan.
Earlier in the year, Morrissey cancelled a number of dates due to a "flu outbreak" amongst his crew. This came after a string of US dates were scrapped, with the singer revealing that he had been treated for cancer.
In a few years, I predict, his popularity will wane he won’t be able to get arrested
LOL!
What’s a morrissey?
I didn’t realize he was still around.
LOL!
“I love Iceland and I have waited a long time to return, but I shall leave the Harpa Concert Hall to their cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust,” Morrissey said in a statement. “
The best policy for a performer is to always insult your fans as much as possible.
What is a “Morrissey”?
I shall endeavor to eat meat today in his honor.
A. Diva
B. Drama queen
C. Homofascist
D. All of the above
**his right to do it.**
He does indeed. And we have the right to ridicule him.
“Ha! His crew has to cancel many concerts because of the flu - a direct result of depriving themselves of meat. Lowers resistance.”
Many years ago I worked with a woman that was a strict vegetarian. She averaged at least 30 sick days a year. Always with a cold, virus or some such infection. As a matter of fact, I’ve never met anybody that got sick so much. She was constantly being warned for excessive absenteeism.
They say if you are going to pursue that lifestyle, you had better know what the hell you are doing.
It’s more likely it’s his right not to take a gig in a restaurant environment, where, of course, they’ll be selling meat. But to demand that the venue limit their opportunities to make money is wrong. Just as the Christian band shouldn’t take a gig at the venue if beer being sold bothers them. But to take a gig and make demands what the venue can and can’t sell is just wrong.
Brain cancer? < /snark>
After the untimely demise of Buddy Holly, there is only one band that has been able to assuage my grief:
“If I can’t control you, I won’t entertain you.”
Well, bye.
so he demands the right to force others not to eat meat too?
Is this that tolerance we keep hearing about?
He’s from an 80s band called The Smiths. He refuses to do any reunion shows with the rest of the band (although being an early fan club member, he famously got the New York Dolls to reunite).
He did have a statement about the immigration without assimilation in England though...

Morrissey ‘Refuses to Live in the UK Because of Immigration Explosion’
The Daily Mail ^ | November 28, 2007 | James Slack
The pop singer Morrissey claims he can no longer live in a Britain he believes lost to an “immigration explosion”.
The former frontman of the Smiths, who is now based in Rome, claimed England was just ‘a memory now’.
The 48-year-old added: “Other countries have held on to their basic identity yet it seems to me that England was thrown away.
“The change in England is so rapid compared to the change in any other country.
“If you walk through Knightsbridge on any bland day of the week you won’t hear an English accent...
.....
and here’s this nugget from a few years back when he couldn’t persuade a whole festival to go without meat eatin’.
