Both quarterbacks have won four super bowls with their teams. Who's the greatest quarterback of all time? Joe Montana or Tom Brady?

It's hard to imagine how good Brady would have been if he consistently had a beast for a running back, great receivers, and a shut down defense. It demonstrates just how good he is, that they've been at this high level of play the entire time he's had a fairly low grade group around him. He's a couple of plays (that should have been made by his own teammates) away from having won six superbowls already, not to mention the extraordinary lucky plays made by the Giants to beat them those two times. He's an amazing player.
That being said, I 'm not sure it's possible to say who among the greats was the best, different eras, different game. There are a handful of greats that stand above the rest, and Brady is one of them.

Brady's ACL and MCL
got torn in the early part of the 2008-09 NFL season after Chiefs player Bernard Pollack got him in the left leg. Brady was out for the year, and got replaced by Matt Cassel.

Those SF teams from the 1980s had very underrated defensive units.
I believe the 1984 49ers are still the only team ever to have all four of their defensive backs start in the Pro Bowl.
That group included cornerbacks Ronnie Lott and Eric Wright, and safeties Dwight Hicks and Carlton Williamson.

“Edelman should have got the MVP.”
Agreed. I knew 100% it would go to Brady though.
Manning didn’t deserve his against the Bears, should have gone to Joesph Addai.
“And once more regarding Montana: UNDEFEATED in Super Bowl games and NEVER threw an INT. Pretty hard to beat that.”
Dam right.
Brady’s thing hurts from all the suction he’s getting. ESPN’s Skip Bayliss’ tongue is surgically attached to Brady’s irma.

Edelman: Agreed.”
Yep. 100%!
“Manning didnt deserve his against the Bears, should have gone to Joesph Addai.”
Manning should have given the award to Rexy; without him, the Colts don’t win that game. Joseph Addai...boy, he faded quickly.
Montana: Dam right.”
Skip Bayliss is a total know nothing; Bradys irma is a great location for him.

He could easily be 6-0 if a play or two in each of those two games went differently. And each of the two Brady lost ended with a pick in the end zone, IIRC. Wasn't it my Giants?

Sadly, the emphasis is on the number of Super Bowl rings, or Marino and Tarkenton would be a part of this discussion, at least receiving “honorable mention.”

.
Brady has the stats, but Joe did the best with what was available on the team in his first Super Bowl season.

or 1-5 as all of his Super Bowl wins where last second dramas except for the win over the Eagles.
2001 - tied score with 1:21 left and no timeouts, ball on their own 17 and Brady drives the team down field for the last second winning Vinatieri field goal.
2003 - tied score with 1:08 left and Brady drives down the field for the game winning field goal.
2004 - up by a field goal over the Eagles and I believe the defense shut down the Eagles last drive to preserve the “easiest” Super Bowl win for the Patriots.
