Dan Thompson is on his way out the door as CEO of fast food giant McDonalds. This is not terribly surprising, since the Golden Arches have turned in some poor numbers compared to their competitors for a while now. There are a few reasons for this, some of which came as a surprise to me, as outlined by my friend Stephen Green (a.k.a. Vodkapundit). One big factor which doesnt seem to make a lot of news is that the primary component of burgers is beef, and the cost has been on the rise.

The Greeks can run a restaurant, at least in my part of the world.
A really good place is Grecian Gardens which also makes some of the best fried flounder in the area. All the other seafood places have gone downhill and stayed there.
I get a to go plate every couple weekends or so.
They make a killer pizza too.
Interestingly the one I ate at (in downtown Tulsa) was called “Coney Island”. This was back in the 70s.
There must be a thousand Coney Islands in the U.S.
We have a place here in Warren County, N.J. called Hot Dog Johny’s. They have had the same menu since they opened 60+ years ago. They serve boiled hot dogs with mustard and/or relish, soda, and buttermilk. There are days you can’t get into the place. And the hot dogs are terrible.
I used to eat at one in Pensacola. They had a mullet platter which was both good and cheap. Actually it was better than good, it was excellent.
There are several Greek Restaurants in Panama City but they are pretty expensive at least what I call expensive.
how to reduce costs at McD’s
scale back any new chemicals you’ve added to your food in the last several years..
(at least until you get the bigMacs restored to where they stop causing me to barf them up)
The coney dog is a SE Michigan product.

I grew up in Jackson county so Todoroff’s is what I grew up with but I personally prefer the American. + you can open carry in the American in downtown Detroit.
My favorite brand of weiners is Nathans. I think they started at Coney Island.
Unfortunately they have been really high for the last few months. I can take “Hebrew National” and Oscar Meyer’s premium ones but not their cheap ones.
“At 56 I can no longer eat their marginal tasting food...my stomach can’t handle it...”
Same here. Plus, their food is crap compared to 40 years ago. Burgers overcooked to the consistency of cardboard because it’s the only way fast food joints are confident they can keep from killing people with e coli from improperly handled burger, relying on the condiments and such to impart the sensation of a juicy burger that isn’t actually juicy.
My wife likes their McWraps, and my bulldog and mastiff like their cheeseburgers, (esp. on 69¢ Wednesday).
I like Subway.
It’s not just lefties killing McDonald’s, but also lousy taste, sketchy nutrition and poor service.
Really smart marketing for the American and Lafayette coney island restaurants. They have a longstanding competition over which is better and being right next door to each other they get a lot of people who go from one restaurant to the other to compare.
They even showed up in the short lived series “Low winter sun” the partner detectives were arguing over which was better as they both went into their favorite ones.
Anything remotely resembling fun or high fat is an endangered species.
The First Lady has done an incredible job making this a negative. I can’t stand her but she sure is effective.
I see.
I used to be able to eat their food.
But now, it causes INSTANT barf (so I figure it may be a chemical additive).
I can eat other company’s burgers....
mystery?
I thought that was illegal except in certain parts of Nevada.
Bring back their 1970's menu with 1970's quality. French Fries should not taste like Crayons. Used to Mickey D had great fries. Now they are horrible even straight out of the frier. Burger King needs to go back to it's roots as well. The only 1970's and earlier burger I know of is Krystal which is where Dave Thomas got his idea for a square burger LOL. A restaurant he worked at in Knoxville, TN as a teenager had a Krystal about a block over.
I remember when McDonald’s fries were considered the best there was. I read back then that they purchased only premium potatoes and paid accordingly.
I have noticed several different companies now serve flavored fries. I don’t get them at the fast food places but sometimes buy them in supermarkets and they are pretty decent.
The best fries you can get is buy the raw whole potato, slice it to liking, and deep fry it yourself. Mickey D fries and store boughts these days are reconstituted mush {mashed potato with lots of filler and additives} formed into a shape and deep fried :>}
I quit going to Mickey Ds years ago when they began to support LIEberal causes.
That the LIEberals are destroying Mickey Ds is a piece of wonderfully appropriate schadenfreude!
