Dan Thompson is on his way out the door as CEO of fast food giant McDonalds. This is not terribly surprising, since the Golden Arches have turned in some poor numbers compared to their competitors for a while now. There are a few reasons for this, some of which came as a surprise to me, as outlined by my friend Stephen Green (a.k.a. Vodkapundit). One big factor which doesnt seem to make a lot of news is that the primary component of burgers is beef, and the cost has been on the rise.

Well then... You just haven’t met the one that fell down the side of the car seat a few months ago.
‘least that’s what the dog told me...
McDonald’s primary business angle is real estate. If they’re “having trouble” it is because their property valuations are dropping or they’re not turning over unproductive or declining assets fast enough.
I just like the fact that there’s a periodical out there called “Beef”.
I agree about the coffee. McD's is okay while Starbucks burns their beans.
LOL! Too fast for me!
They should have been killed off 60 years ago.
They served overpriced crap when they were 13 cents each/$1 per dozen and they still serve overpriced crap!!!
don’t care if it is the right or left.
McDonalds is horrible and not worth the money.
Use to go and get an eatable burger, fries and a coke for a buck or so.
Now the food tastes like a crap sandwich and it is too expensive.
You are herded like cattle and treated like you are in an endless line at Disney land.
McDonalds seems to value speed over quality - they tend to amass extra patties and keep them "handy". The other places take a bit longer to fill orders but the beef seems fresher - I prefer Whataburger these days when I need a fast food fix to stave off the hunger pangs.
When McDonalds started to micro wave everything the taste went away on pretty much everything. Even the fries are not as good
McDonalds management, and their poor decisions, is what is killing off the company.
Very true, the “new” fries are terrible
McD’s went from being a pleasant place to eat to being a hostile environment... it’s NOT just the food that’s sinking them.
In -Out Burger. Hamburger Cheeseburger and fries, thats it! At any given time you can’t get in the door.
Got tell you I was pleasantly surprised it was about the cattle industry and not some gay publication.
I remember when we thought Hardees was good. Of course one of the Hardees we had in town was a really weird building, it like a shelter half only concrete. So it was a fun place to go just to try to figure out why the building was that way.
>>I like Subway.
>>Its not just lefties killing McDonalds, but also lousy taste, sketchy nutrition and poor service.
I’m the opposite. I despise Subway. They are over-priced and always have horrible service. Their whole business model of “we are healthy...as long as you pay full price and leave off all the expensive stuff” just rubs me the wrong way.
OTOH, McDonalds provides exactly what it has always provided: cheap and fast food. Nothing pretentious there (except for the fancy coffee menu). They don’t pretend to be gourmet. They don’t claim to be an “experience”. I like their honesty. I don’t eat there much—maybe a Sausage McMuffin once a week and a burger and fries once a month. But, they always perform to my realistic expectations.
>>(at least until you get the bigMacs restored to where they stop causing me to barf them up)
You should see a doctor. There’s something wrong with your digestive system. Have you seen what humans (who aren’t coddled toy poodles) can eat in the rest of the world? We’re omnivores and that means that we should be able to handle some pretty bad food without “barfing it up”.
20 years ago, Burger King had great quality. Now it’s subpar. Given a choice.between McD’s or BK, now I’ll go to the Golden Arches because at least they’re more consistent.
thanks very much but...
my stomache is able to handle a whole lot of different foods...
including other fast food burgers such as 5 Guys and Burger King. (and I used to be able to handle McD, too)
SO,
the problem is not my tummy.
the problem is something in the McD’s, something added in the last few years
but thanks for caring!
