Dr. Efraim Zuroff, the head Nazi hunter at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, told Arutz Sheva on Tuesday in time for International Holocaust Memorial Day that the battle over the Holocaust lives onand is being waged on the field of public memory.
According to Zuroff, aside from the widespread scourge of Holocaust denial, a new phenomenon has reared its head recently in eastern Europe, where there are attempts to minimize the genocidal horrors committed against the Jewish people and revise history.
This phenomenon should worry the state of Israel and the Foreign Ministry, emphasized Zuroff. In post-Communist eastern Europe, theyre trying to play down the crimes of the Nazi cooperators and claim that the crimes of the Communists were just as bad, and that both of them committed genocide.
Zuroff elaborated: Theyre trying to reduce the uniqueness of the Holocaust, and even to claim that among the Communist criminals were Jews too.

People remembering communist mass murders are not Nazis, although this is what Zuroff has been saying for years.
“Eastern Europe minimizes Holocaust and equates it with Communist ‘genocide,’ says Dr. Zuroff”
He is mockingly putting quotes around the word genocide as that man has made it clear those mourning the victims of communist mass murders are his enemies.
Yes, the focus was on the victims being Anti-Fascists.
In East Germany, the former Communist Party boss Ernst Thaelmann was the most celebrated victim of the holocaust.
There is a second thing here. In communist propaganda victims of the communism regime were also labeled Nazis. Thus those speaking against or even remembering communist mass murders were labeled Nazis.
Yes. Basically in the Commie world you are either a Communist or a Fascist. There is no middle ground.
That is why people like Zuroff make me very angry. He is still preaching this vile communist propaganda in the free world. His passion for getting wins for his cause at any cost has made him an instrument of evil.

This guy seems to think that if you remember any victims of totalitarian regimes who weren't Jewish, whether Poles killed by the Germans or Russians, or Ukrainians killed by Stalin, or anyone killed for their political beliefs, you are diminishing the Holocaust. How about having sympathy for all innocent victims of murderous regimes? Does the Armenian genocide not count because the total number of dead was less than the number killed in the Holocaust?
There should be a museum for Jewish crimes. And we are still sorely lacking in Nuremberg-like trials for communists and a museum for communist crimes.
None were Jews. Many were apostates of Jewish descent. However, by the 1960’s the communist leadership decided to blame Jews for Poland’s problems, while the entire communist world was on an anti-Jewish and anti-Zionist spree following the failure of the USSR’s proxies to destroy Israel in 1967. More than 1/3 of Poland’s remaining Jews were forced to flee from 1968 and the rest were repressed and virtually all Jews were expelled from the communist party in Poland.
Zuroff elaborated “they're trying to reduce the uniqueness of the Holocaust, and even to claim that among the Communist criminals were Jews too.”
“The chief Nazi hunter reminds that the Prague Declaration of 2008 included an open attempt to connect the crimes of the Communists and the Nazis, and equate them.”
That's one of the most disgusting things I've read in a while. With people like this guy, no wonder anti-semitism exists.
The first Soviet Russia's government - the "Sovnarkom" of the 1917 was all Jews, except two people.
Check bios of the two most prominent: Leon Trotsky and Yakov Sverdlov.
To Jews, they remained Jews, because being a Jew is a matter of blood, not of religious beliefs or political views.
And one-by-one Stalin ultimately had them all killed.

Lets blame, no lets bomb the Eastern Europeans, they are responsible for everything..
However, they were prominent and fed into the image that anti-semites wanted to make
To me, the root causes of the evils of the Holocaust, Pojramos, the slaughter of Poles, Belarussians and Ukrainians, the Holodomor and indeed the rise of Bolshevikism were two things that happened in the 1790s:
1. the French revolution
2. the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth
This is an image of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth at its greatest extent before it was torn apart by the Germans and Russians
Now if you compare this to the largest centers of deaths in World War 1, you will find the same lands
If you compare this to the largest concentration of Jews before the 1800s, you will find that 60% to 75% of all Jews in the world lived in the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth -- peacefully and prosperously
And, if you compare the blood lands of WWII -- both the millions killed as soldiers and civilians in war and the murdered Jews, Gypsies, Poles, Rusyni and Russians, you will find the same
Why so many Jews? Becuase during the middle ages, the multi-cultural lands of the commonwealth were open to all faiths without discrimination and Jews flocked there from persecution in England, Germany, etc.
But the partition brought Jews into Russia (or to be specific Muscovy) which had never had Jews before. The Jews were restricted to what was called the "Jewish Pale" which corresponded nearly exactly with the borders of the erstwhile commonwealth
At the same time, the fervent idea of nationalism created by the French revolution forced all Bretons, etc. to become "French" speak only french etc. and the English killed off the languages of Manx, Cornwall etc. and the Russians started the same and the Germans as well
I wonder if he was anti-Semitic or just “let’s kill everyone” — to me it seems the latter. He even wanted to destroy his Georgian culture. He didn’t care who or how many he killed
