President Obama announced Sunday that he’ll use his executive authority to designate 12 million acres in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as wilderness, walling it off from resource development. This abrogates a 1980 deal in which Congress specifically set aside some of this acreage for future oil and gas exploration. It’s also a slap at the new Republican Congress, where Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski has been corralling bipartisan support for more Arctic drilling.

Well, he has so many ways he can do things what with his pen and phone and his own interpretation of laws. For the most part, laws don’t apply to him anyway.
So, if I understood correctly, the president/king can do whatever he desires with US owned land? It’s the King’s land, just like in merrie Olde England.
It won’t end until this narcissistic dictator is driven from office, perhaps in an orange jumpsuit and accompanying chain restraints. JMHO

well the announcement did come just as he is visiting Saudi Arabia
Yep, he is bowing to the Saudi’s again.
I think its time for the states to start stepping over the feds and doing what they need to do.
The feds will respond by withholding our tax dollars but that will just anger the people at the feds even more.
An executive order can be reversed by the next WH occupant.
“We’ll treat you however we wish until you comply with the kings orders.’
And out of the other side of his mouth he’ll claim credit for the increased supply/production and lower gas prices.
Sooner or later we are going to need some more oil from the North Slope to keep the pipeline up and running. Obama doesn’t care about energy independence and his Saudi controllers also want our oil supply reduced so that they can up prices again.
And, in his world, and that of his elitist supporters,
the only problem is that it isn’t ALL “the king’s land”.
So, will it be and EO or just a plain memo.

Of course the can, but who knows what the next (p)resident will bring. I’d prefer someone who knows that we can attain and use our resources in a responsible manner and remain good stewards of the enviro. But, we may just get another warmunist/trubeliever/profiteer.
Tell them you’d like to build hundreds of square miles of windmills up there, though, and you’re in business.
Even without Obama the feds need to be put back in their rightful place.
There is no reason congressmen or senators from my state or the president should have any say over what Alaska does.
