Sarah Palin Slips into Self-Parody
National Review ^ | January 26, 2015 | Charles C. W. Cooke

Posted on 01/26/2015 6:22:08 PM PST by MinnesotaLibertarian

Skipping to the end:

...

Consider, if you will, what happens to a person who suggests that Sarah Palin is anything other than saintly. Right off the bat, they are accused of disliking America or Alaska or conservatives or mothers or the working class — or even women in general — and then they are informed that their “hatred” is showing. Next, their motives are questioned and their supposedly secret “agenda” is exposed for the world to see, for no right-thinking person could dislike Palin on the merits, natch. “I hope you enjoy your elite cocktail parties,” the apologists will say, and then they will huffily tell you that they “hope signaling that you are ‘one of them’ was worth it.” And finally — as is the case when one expresses disapproval of other cult figures, such as President Obama, Ron Paul, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and Paul Krugman — it is presumed that all animadversion must be motivated by envy or by snobbery or by secret admiration, and that it can therefore be safely ignored. “What have you done,” they will ask, “that compares to my paragon of virtue?” All told, it’s really quite pathetic.

...

Having been mercilessly and unjustly pilloried by the media throughout the 2008 campaign, Sarah Palin had a clear choice in its aftermath: She could sober up and prove the buggers wrong, or she could collapse into ignominious pasquinade. Sadly, she chose the latter. The rest of us should choose to move on.

If you liked pasquinade, try polysyllabic sesquipedalianism.

Or zugzwang. That’s a good one also.

Wait and see. She is obviously pretty bitter, and for what reasons we don’t know. But she has more natural talent than many of the others on the list. Cooke simply doesn’t like her, period.

Running that article, with those paragraphs, written by an Old Oxonian with two middle names, National Review could have more aptly entitled it “NR Slips Into Self-Parody”.

"She owes it to us to contend."

I listened to her speech and she said that this time she will. I quote from her speech in Iowa:

"We should take the sign off the door to the Oval Office that says "No Girls Allowed.""

And, Sarah said this:

"We remember what Margaret Thacher would always remind her constituents, anyway, that if you want something said, you ask a man; if you want something done, you ask a woman."

These words are not ambiguous:

We are here in the name of freedom and you, Iowa, you get to help decide who will fight for it. You will caucus to help choose our next President. It's just about a year from now--I can't come soon enough!"

Sarah--Mamma Grizzly--is coming to take on the Hildebeast.

The attacks on her seem a bit off-key to me. I just figure the romniacs are back in business.

When I read Charles C. W. Cooke words, that said that Sarah gave a “long, rambling, and at times barely coherent speech,” I realized that this screed falls into the mold of what you get from the snot-nosed class. Tone deaf is the description we call someone like Charles C. W. I listened to Sarah’s speech, and I understood everything. There was no ambiguity. It was on a folksy level that spins these intellectual B.S.ers like possessed demons looking upon a crucifix. And, while they are in their alternate reality, they might as well be spewing pea soup.

Just in case you did not look up what means, I give you some meaning:

Adj.1. ignominious - (used of conduct or character) deserving or bringing disgrace or shame ignominious - (used of conduct or character) deserving or bringing disgrace or shame.

A pasquinade is a satire or lampoon.

I believe the author thought Sarah efforts at satire brought her disgrace.

However, I think differently. Sarah’s lampoon of the foes of Conservativism bring them disgrace. Those who heard her words understand and would agree that the Left is disgraceful.

" Furthermore, quitting her term as Governor halfway through is a major red flag, and eliminates the credibility of the "executive experience" argument."

And, I suppose you can't, for the life of you, figure out why Governor Sarah Palin quit her term of office?

If you do know, tell me why she quit her term of office.

One person could put a stop to this liberalism. Instead, the liberalism continues unfettered, destroying conservatism a little more each day.

My faith in this situation ever changing is Zero.

"Unfortunately, Palin is following in those footsteps."

I think the American people are beginning to see through the media B.S. Unfortunately for the media, the people are turning them off and not buying the print media. People are saying that the internet will take over when the dinosaur media dies out. The problem is, that people trust the internet even less. So, the media had better wake up and smell the coffee. They will be replaced by those who present the news in a responsible manner and not sink to the L.C.D. The media that treats people like human beings deserving of respect will survive. The Yellow Journalist will be the dinosaurs.

Don’t get your hopes up. There is no evidence that she is planning to run.

Yes. The money on the Potomac has made Washington a cesspool. Sarah knows it and is a threat. She won’t talk about it, she will do something about it.

That’s a very good point. If Margaret Thatcher said she was going to do something, she darned well did it. She did not tease. She led.

In isolation that portion of Palin’s speech does indeed sound like she is going to run. The problem is, haven’t her supporters heard something similar in the past?

If she wants to channel Thatcher, she surely needs to be clear and decisive.

Don’t get me wrong, Palin has FAR more natural ability as a speaker than Thatcher did. But Thatcher had great discipline, and that inner steel (or maybe iron) that left people with no doubts about her intentions and convictions. I’d take that iron over flair any day of the week.

It might be worth pointing out that Thatcher was often mocked in her early days as Conservative leader. There is still hope, but Palin surely must buckle down, embrace the fight and the discipline that the fight requires. Leadership lies within and no external forces can alter that fact.

Those who are already practicing their Christmas carols are going to do a better job than you will. Hillary has been running since the mid-1970’s. You do the math.

Articles like this are informative. Not because what they have to say is persuasive, intelligent or even factual. Bur because NR is the kneepad journal of record for the gop-e. So you get sort of an advance look at what the propaganda and spin is going to be.

As regards SP, it looks like the gop faction of the uniparty is dedicated to continuing with its longstanding policy of marginalizing its conservative base. I particularly enjoy the reference to SP supporters as being somehow mentally or emotionally deficient. PDS really is an emerging mental disorder.

And all this effort and angst over someone who probably won’t run anyway.
