Lingerie store sells Michelle Obama bra

A “first lady” bra inspired by Michelle Obama is “flying out of” a Washington lingerie store.

The owner of Coup de Foudre Lingerie in the nation’s capital says that according to the bra’s Belgian manufacturer, PrimaDonna, the intimate apparel was “inspired by [Michelle Obama’s] sense of elegance and fashion.”

Kiersten Ballman, whose store has outfitted women in the District for the last 10 years, describes the royal blue, $146 bra as having a “specialized cup for fuller-busted women.”

After getting a shipment of more than 15 of the bras to her shop on Thursday, Ballman says she’s down to a stock of four. She has already ordered more, saying, “They came in yesterday and they’re flying right back out the door.”

When asked if customers are intrigued by the undergarment’s ode to Obama, Ballman replies even if the first lady connection is appealing, her clientele appear to be more drawn to the fit and style. “The color is amazing. That’s what first catches people’s eye. Washingtonians love blue.”

Ballman adds, “It’s offering support in a plunging silhouette in an amazing color.”
