Fox News Channel contributor Brit Hume shared the news that Facebook had disabled his account in a Twitter post Thursday, adding only that he was informed the action was due to “using a false identity.”

Though he sought a response from the social media site responsible, his post also prompted others to weigh in with possible reasons for the block.

I disabled my Facebook. Back when my wife passed away, I changed my profile to ‘widow’. Soon after that I began receiving a constant barrage of online dating solicitations. EHarmony, Match etc. Think Facebook was selling my ID? I do.
