They’re not “milktoast”. They’re “establishment”, big government liberal republicans.
The establishment pushes their own candidates on us and demands that conservatives vote for them.
I say they are Milktoast because we don’t need limp wristed, liberal elites in office. No matter if they have an R or a D next to their name.

The "Republicans" (Who-and-What-ever TF they are) in one of their long ago 19th Hole Conferences, decided that since half the electorate is female, that the GOPe candidates must always be quiet, polite, well-groomed and very well behaved. Our candidates must always be the nicest boy at the Church picnic. Nice. No fighting! Please! Now come over and give Mummy a kiss. Why can't you be more like the Boehner boy? Look how nice he looks.
To be more crudely specific, on Planet Rove, this is supposed to be the way into the White Female Soccer Mom's vote-heart. The reasoning goes that with most voter blocs spoken for well in advance, the only changeable, swayable bloc is the mythical White woman. You get them ... you get the election. Obviously, McCain and Dole are no woman's idea of a prime dinner date!
So you get the Namby-Pamby Mormon Milquetoast, all dressed up for the BYU Prom. You get the return to Bush Wimpery. (That Bad Boy GW should have been more like his "nice" dad and brother Jeb!) they are perfect
“establishment”, big government liberal republicans whose major election concern is school crossing safety and healthy school lunch, not constitutionally limited government. They're from the government and they want to help everybody, but especially the ladies.
