That reminds me ... a few years ago in the middle of chaos ... three kids in five years ... our family doctor was telling me how to glue the kids’ scalp wounds together, and how to diagnose ear infections.
I did have to call poison control once for advice because our 8-year-old slipped while putting diesel in one of the tractors and got soaked. Just wondering if they knew any decontamination tricks that I didn’t.
They were surprised that we let a “little” kid do stuff like that.

" hell you get DUI for .05 BAC in some states?"
I may be mistaken, but I believe I have seen a FReeper or two post that you are drunk and are guilty of DUI if you have ONE drink.
That said, some of the things I got away with back when addle the mind to remember. Luckily, the time I could not recognize which car was mine, I did not drive home.

So.
We used to take soda cans, cut the tops and bottoms completely off with a standard can opener, we’d tape about five or six of them together with electrical tape and for the last can we would puncture a small hole in the bottom and on the top would use the pointed end of the opener to create openings without cutting the entire top off.
Now these cans were the perfect size for a tennis ball.
We would squirt lighter fluid in the small hole in the bottom, drop in a tennis ball that was soaked in lighter fluid and light the bottom.
And well, it was like a cannon that shot a flaming tennis ball.
Awesome !!!!!

If our hands were really gunked from oil and stuff, we would pour some gasoline on our hands, to get it off.
Then we'd wash our hands with tide powder laundry detergent.

“Arent we lucky to have a neat place like FR to hang around in during our retirement years?”
Yes we are, I get 90% of current events off of the internet and spend a lot of time checking out posts on FR. I have cable TV but rarely watch it. Life is good but I guess, not for everyone.

When my younger son was around 7 or 8 I taught him how to use an air-powered nail gun. I was building a project, he was interested.... Went over how it works, how not to hurt yourself with it, he did fine - he finished assembling the project.
Some friends were surprised I had done that. I see it as part of my job as a father - to build confident, self-reliant kids that appreciate dangers and consequences, but aren't afraid to learn and do things.

We had no air conditioning in our cars or houses. We had one TV and it was black and white, and only one station to watch. We played tag, sling the statue, hide and seek, rode our bikes everywhere, and while swimming, we used inner tubes.

Ask your modern 12-year-old about building a tree fort, and his eyes will glaze over. Prolly Nanny State ordinances regulating it in some places now, anyway.
