That reminds me ... a few years ago in the middle of chaos ... three kids in five years ... our family doctor was telling me how to glue the kids’ scalp wounds together, and how to diagnose ear infections.
I did have to call poison control once for advice because our 8-year-old slipped while putting diesel in one of the tractors and got soaked. Just wondering if they knew any decontamination tricks that I didn’t.
They were surprised that we let a “little” kid do stuff like that.

If our hands were really gunked from oil and stuff, we would pour some gasoline on our hands, to get it off.
Then we'd wash our hands with tide powder laundry detergent.

When my younger son was around 7 or 8 I taught him how to use an air-powered nail gun. I was building a project, he was interested.... Went over how it works, how not to hurt yourself with it, he did fine - he finished assembling the project.
Some friends were surprised I had done that. I see it as part of my job as a father - to build confident, self-reliant kids that appreciate dangers and consequences, but aren't afraid to learn and do things.
