and i don't say that lightly. Patton, Gettysburgh, Das Boot, Run Silent Run Deep, Fury, and on and on.
But Sniper is absolutely riveting in its portrayal of combat and the people in combat, i can't say more, except that when the movie ended in a packed theatre, a few people, me included, were drying eyes, but the theatre was absolutely silent and stayed that way. no one moved for a while then the whole theatre silently filed out.
BATTLE OF THE BULGE does not get enough kudos. Historically accurate. Sniper was not really that good to me. Drama? Yes. Questioning our results/effectiveness? Maybe.

I have always heard good things about that one, too. I need to get caught up.
Personally, Patton happens to be one of my all time favs.
I'm sure that's what happened.
FiJi, at this house “The General” is required watching every few months or so. My ninety year old Dad thinks it is a riot!
Good choice!
I haven’t seen the movie yet but did they include the event that occurred in January, 2009 where he claims he shot and killed two men who were trying to hijack his truck at a gas station along Hwy 67 outside of Dallas?
Now why would "orders from the top" come down to kill Kyle after they took great pains to clear not only him but erase every shred of evidence, including the bodies and the law enforcement report of when he personally killed two individuals at a gas station along Hwy 67 outside Dallas back in January 2009 when they allegedly tried to hijack his truck????
Battle of the Bulge historically accurate?! That’s funny. Though I do enjoy that desert tank battle, even if it was supposed to be in the Ardennes forest.
No Breitbarting necessary. Spend enough time around PTSD cases and one of them will try to kill you, or themselves, maybe both. Seriously broken people do very unfortunate things.
The Big Red One. Does it beat that ? I want to see it soon.

We don’t REALLY know who killed Kyle and why, do we? No one was at that firing range besides ‘them’, right? How convenient.
..and it’s not unusual for 20 Navy SEALs to be placed on ONE helicopter? I’m referring to Extortion 17, of course.
Oh wait, check these out......
Did Special Forces Snipers Kill Americans After Katrina?
Don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger........
No. We know he fixed himself by helping PTSD sufferers. And we know guys with PTSD go around the bend far too often. In hindsight taking guys with PTSD to the range probably isn’t the best hobby out there. I understand the basic motivation, shooting can be very relaxing and offers an chance to get ones mind right. Until things go wrong.
Yes, there was plenty of sniping in the movie, but nothing compared to what's been on this board today.
The question all conspiracy theories have trouble asking is the important one: who benefits? Does anybody actually gain anything killing Kyle? No, they don’t. Which means there’s not much reason to put together a potentially career destroying conspiracy to kill him.
Bad things happen, often times far too randomly. That’s how life goes. As I told my wife when I got home from the movie, the problem with movies based on reality is that reality doesn’t have a happy ending. Eventually we die, usually badly.
I have a 14 year old grandson and ,at first, i told my husband that I didn’t think it would be appropriate for him because of the language. I’ve changed my mind. I’m sure he’ll hear nothing new and I think he’s mature enough to handle the movie and enjoy it.
I think I may have to go see American Sniper next.
