Loxley, who says he began Storming around Australia for the Monash Childrens Hospital in Melbourne in a full Sandtrooper Star Wars costume two years back, is crediting the armour for saving his life.
...
He said the suit is often criticized by Star Wars fans as ineffective against attacks ranging from laser blasts to rocks thrown by Ewoks.
"So all those people that rag on the old stormtrooper because you know, the armor doesn't do this, it doesn't do that ... it stopped a snake bite and probably saved my life today," he said.
Loxley said the snake appeared to be a king brown snake, which is ranked the sixth deadliest in Australia.

The force was with him.
Geeky I know but I once read that the armor wouldn’t work against direct blaster fire but would effectively deflect glancing fire........and snakes.
Snakes on a plane? We'll handle it.
Snake bit his shin. A good pair of boots would have been just as effective as protection.
Yeah, but boots wouldn’t look as cool as a Storm Trooper uniform. I’d imagine that it’s a real chick-magnet too. :=)
Of course, he only stepped on it because he couldn’t see it...
Is he also known as Robin of Loxley and is married to Princess Bagelah?
(Robin Hood: Men In Tights reference)
1. To look scary. Their helmets, and Darth Vader's, look like skulls for a reason, to look scary. This tells the audience that these people are the bad guys.
2. To dehumanize the people in the armor so that the designated good guys can kill them without the audience losing sympathy. If the "evil" people and the "good" in star wars weren't so clearly deliniated, the actions of the good characters could be seen by the audience as reprehensible.
I’ve seen Trooper armor (I have 3 sets myself) painted yellow for diving with rays.
But not with as much style.
Well, they are clones. It's not like you're going to run out of them.
Reminds me of the satire/fanfiction webpage somebody created, about a supposed alliance between the Empire and Nazi Germany that resulted in AT-ATs being used on the Eastern Front. Proof against blasters, sure, but machine guns...not so much.
Armor saved his life, but would he have been there but for the armor?
More accurate would be storm trooper armor nearly kills man. Just saying...
“One armed wampa”
The comments are great...
Wampa lives matter!
“Your honor, in Luke’s defense, the wampa was going to eat him...”
The empire recruited non clones some time around “Star Wars IV”. Something to do with obamacare denying benefits on cloning facilities.
caution: The Princess Leia bikini outfit is not effective against snakes.
