A man who police say was attempting an armed robbery was shot dead in a Pompano Beach Taco Bell parking lot Tuesday.
Investigators said 21-year-old Rontavis Holton confronted Ronald Farmer, 37, just after 6 p.m. in the restaurant parking lot near West Atlantic Boulevard and Northwest 6th Avenue.
Holton, wearing a ski mask and sunglasses, told Farmer to pull down his pants during the attempted robbery.
Detectives said Farmer was able to reach for his own gun and shoot Holton. Holton was rushed to the hospital where he died.

Well he would have dropped eventually considering he was at a Taco Bell.
"Farmer has been arrested eight times in Florida -- most recently in July 2006 on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon, records show. Holton has been arrested nine times in Florida on charges including burglary, robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. He was released from prison in April 2014."
Since the news articles don’t give a picture of the decedent, I did a little Googling. Looks like this is probably the guy and, yes, he matches the suspected description:

There's a joke in there somewhere ...
Sounds like one of those cute little Korean smart cars. "Drive a Rontavis home today!"
This is a legal Do not carry sign in Texas that must be abided by from all CHL holders.
According to Texas law, the sign must contain a specific size Font
and the sign must be of a particular size to be legal in preventing CHL.
IOW, all others may be ignored for your personal safety and those around you.
And the Second one. There are only Two in Texas.
This sign signifies a free fire zone on armed criminals.
Attendants are required to bring ear plugs after dusk.
Perhaps a 124gr injection?
I would think he would've been in Prison for a very long time. Especially
as a violent repeat criminal. Is there affirmative action sentencing now?
I'm seeing this more often these days. Criminals with a long history are on
the streets and the message is "Do the Crime, Not the Time" from our Courts.
Pants Up, Don’t Shoot!!
Most citizens, even in the urban ghettos, are good people. Law abiding citizens. However, our liberal policies towards criminals allow the same small percentage of scum to commit felony after felony. Until eventually they do something bad enough to land them behind bars for a significant stretch. Unfortunately, it usually requires somebody being raped or murdered before that actually happens.
If we put these people away the first time, our criminal justice system wouldn't be so overloaded with cases, resulting in plea bargains that let career criminals off with a slap on the wrist.

Another ticket not to be sold for “Selma.” Now pardon me I must go give myself 50 lashes for white guilt.
Seems to be the *way*; plea bargaining away a felony; **scheduled to plead to another misdemeanor**, I see this in the police logs of the local rag.
See Posts #23,24 for linkage. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The suit against the YUM-brands chain also has a “beef” with the company’s advertising, charging its claims of using “seasoned ground beef” or “seasoned beef” in its food products is false.
According to the suit filed by the Alabama law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, the YUM-brands owned chain is using a meat mixture that contains binders and extenders, and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as “beef.
Attorney Dee Miles said the meat mixture contained just 35 percent beef, with the remaining 65 percent containing water, wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodrextrin, anti-dusting agent and modified corn starch.
The suit was filed on behalf of Taco Bell customer and California resident Amanda Obney, who is not seeking monetary damages, but instead wants a court to order Taco Bell to be honest in its advertising.
