The company said in an advisory Tuesday that the updates will address security flaws that "could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system."
Users of Flash Player on Windows, OS X, and Linux are advised to update to Flash Player version 16.0.0.257, while users of Adobe Flash Player (Extended Support Release) should update to version 13.0.0.260.
Those running Linux systems should update to Flash Player 11.2.202.429.
Flash, which comes included with Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer on Windows 8 (and above) will automatically update to the patched version.
Meanwhile, Adobe Air users on desktops should update to 16.0.0.245, and Android users should update to 16.0.0.272.

Those who rely upon flash for more than simple and secure browsing however might want to take a closer look.
Hmm, I’ve got a brand new PC and I’ve never been able to get my flash player to work.
Running on Linux here. I have found that as long as I stick to the packages on the Stable versions and for security-upgrades there are rarely any problems. I do not run any of the programs noted in the article but know that others here do so hopefully they can be alerted and check for any problems.
I hate Adobe. They download junk every few days and it takes way too much time.
If there were any way I could do without them, I would.
Like HP. Those ink-sucking-pigs should be (economically) taken out and shot.

I think turning off the auto-update for Adobe would help in your situation. As far as HP, I have a few older business machines, both desktops and laptops, and have had no problems. It helped when Compaq was acquired by HP, personally, since at the time I acquired one of the laptops it came with quite a bit of free programs preinstalled which were for the most part very helpful indeed.

I just wandered by your post.
Personally, I use color printing for....almost nothing.
I highly reco checking out a Brother monochrome laser printer. These things are ridiculous. Sometimes they are on sale for $50-$60 with a starter (half capacity) cartridge included. The carts are about $20 each on ebay and they print maybe 2K pages. I have had one of these for several years and had zero problems with it. It only has USB input, cannot be (directly) networked. Bulletproof. A tad slow but for 90% of printing jobs, 1-2-3-4-5-6 pages, well under a minute. I have printed out 350 page books on it, just keeps going. The printing is just fine. Amazing machine for $50-$60.
Coolio!
Thanks for the recommendation. I’m not in the market today, but the next time ink is required, I’ll junk the HP.
Adobe posting critical patches to Flash is so commonplace it doesn't really rank as news, does it?
Adobe patches critical Flash security vulnerabilities..... again.
I’ll second the Brother Laser Printer recommendation. In addition to being good printers, they are Linux and CUPS friendly printers.
