A woman who left her 1-year-old child sitting alone at a Boynton Beach bar was arrested Sunday, police said..
Concerned customers at Banana Boat Lounge and Restaurant, at 739 E. Ocean Ave., told police a woman, later identified as Ashton Krauss, 28, of Ocean Ridge, went to an outdoor bar in the back of the restaurant at about 5:30 p.m. and put the child in a high chair.

area? Pretty sure thats my next work assignment for the next
3 months. I requested housing south of it, like Delray Beach.
Is it an okay area? I’m usually a gulf coast or panhandle person. Appreciate any info.

My dad lives within walking distance of this place. It is actually a relatively nice place.
I have an alcoholic friend (now 25+ years sober) who told me a story - during his early 20’s, he used to hang out a dive bar during the day, with other alcoholics.
One woman would bring her 1+ year old toddler to the bar, and let the baby crawl around the bar-room floor, which was messy with years of spilled alcohol, and the recent overflow of a plugged toilet on the other side of the bar.
Watching that, he said, was one of his “moments of clarity” that helped him start the process of stopping drinking.
Bet geez, only a year after having the kid.......I guess some guys will hit anything.
On the other hand...define “bar”.
Aw yes, the infamous Banana Boat Bar. Most FReeper MLB fans surely remember the: “I’m the straw that stirs the drink.....” quote in ‘77 spring training from Reggie. The BBB was where it all went down. (Reggie claims he never said it). Billy Martin, Whitey Ford and The Mick were in the bar that afternoon also. What a group!
That’s exactly what I envisioned before I clicked on the article.
I wonder if the baby is available for adoption. I’d change my FReeper handle to Three Kids’ Dad and endure all the “newbie” comments.
Perhaps the child was one Ashton Krauss.

Drinking in a bar, booze found in her car and purse. Yep, dope must be the problem. Certainly not alcohol, no sir.
