each picture requires its own harddrive
wow
That is why I suspect that Nikon’s next pro model will have more pixels but pixels alone do not tell the whole story.
A few months ago, Pop Photo had a short about Pentax’s new medium format camera. I don’t remember the number of pixels but I think it was around 50MP. They took a photo of the Brooklyn Bridge then a tiny portion enlarged and the quality was astounding.
Must have been a pretty decent lens too. It looked almost just like my old Pentax 645. I think it takes the same lenses too.
absolutely!
there is a scale of usability beyond which most photographers dont much care.

thats just the digital BACK for a Camera Body
I dont hink that Photoshop will process a 48 Bit image
Pop Photo mentioned that the Pentax would eat up memory and also require a fast processor in the computer.
The big difference was the Pentax was going to sell in the $6000 range while just the Hasselblad digital back was I think around $40,000.
Photoshop will process a 48-bit image, but with a limited subset of features. I could see 48-bit being useful to increase dynamic range (where part of the picture is in shadow, and part is brightly lit).
the Pentax is a Fine Camera.
My 5dII is a find camera
I dont see the need for ...nor can I afford a monster digital back.
One can get carried away the gear lust to the detriment of creativity..Ive experienced it.
The dynamic range of 48 bits must be fun to work with.
considering the low noise from a sensor that can produce an image of the depth...quite a bit of fun.

Im still using CS4 which has a significantly lower bit depth..
I just checked: It has a ZEISS lens. I know it was some well known third party manufacturer...
I remember the OLD phones. some looked like WWII crank phones with a huge power brick
My Father brought two cameras home from WWII. One was a Leica with a E. Leitz lens. The other was an ICA folding camera which I think dated to around 1914. It had a Carl Zeiss lens and a Compur shutter.
He sold the Leica fairly soon but kept the ICA until he traded it to a collector for a modern camera.
Zeiss has always made really outstanding lenses.
The Microsoft Nokia Lumia 1020 is freaking awesome!
Its camera? Beyond belief! A High Definition 12 MP ***WIDE ANGLE*** package and software that defies belief to see. They spared nothing and compromised nothing.
Still I welcome Panasonic upping the game. But the Microsoft Nokia line is heads and shoulders above all the rest.
I’m looking for the good optics. A lens the size of a sand grain doesn’t cut it (even though the images are incredibly good for that small size lens).
