In September, Panasonic made waves at Photokina by using a camera show to announce a smartphone. But the Lumix CM1 isnt just any smartphone: it has a 1-inch sensor, the kind youd find in high-end point-and-shoot cameras, plus an f/2.8 Leica lens that youd be lucky to find on a high-end point-and-shoot. Along with a 20-megapixel sensor, this phone is designed to basically reinvent the wheel when it comes to smartphone cameras.

I would be close to dropping a $1000 on this baby, not with any monthly contract though.
I still have one of leica’s first point and shout cameras....the dlux2.
great lens....poor low light performance...but a fine tiny camera.
this one could change the whole smart phone game..what with the burgeoning photograph everything in sight trend we’ve seen lately.
Back in the 1960s and early ‘70s I used to shoot all my transparences (35mm slides) with a 35mm Leica 3F made in the ‘50s. Sharpest lens I’ve ever seen.
Some selfies should NEVER be taken with a high resolution camera
ahahaha MOST...that i’ve seen are a waste of resolution.
Leica lenses are.... in a word... superb
I wonder how this compares to the Nokia Lumia 1020.
dont know.... but the nokia doesnt have a leica lens on it that much I know
I have a tiny point and shoot leica... and a Leica Bridge.Camera ...designed to look like an slr camera but with at fixed lens
great lenses. that I wish I could put on my full frame canon camera.
I cant find a price listed for the camera phone...anywhere as yet
I have a Lumix GH4 for 4K video and am very impressed with it’s performance and I have barely gotten through the manual.
The 64 GB card should be a minimum though.
I’ve parted with most of my Canon stuff and plan to pretty much sell it all off. Some has gone on Ebay, Amazon, and private sale.
Here is what I’ve sent up (fire, winch, and PTO shaft). Work, weather, and other stuff has slowed me down a bit.

The new Nokia Windows phones are dazzling and their camera capability is incredible!
I’ve been using a Panasonic Lumix camera for a couple of years. It’s been very good and I will be tempted to get this phone. My phone is about 5 years old, so probably about time to upgrade anyway.
I dont think that the GH4 uses a very strong anti aliasing filter if any..which is a very good thing. Neither do the really large very expensive..Hassleblads...etc...
Thank you.
well this entry will up the ante and the race will be good for everybody.
I agree!
Awesome! Long, long overdue. C’mon, Apple...innovate on the optics side. Let’s get some serious PQ out of our phones.
Nikon’s top of the line professional model digital SLR has only 16MPs. I think we sometimes go overboard on number of pixels.
Still I suspect Nikon’s next top of the line model will have more pixels.
this may heat up the apple team...a bit...
Back camera also has active image stabilization.
the Nikon D800 and D800E’s come in at 36.3MP !
if youre printing a large image megapixels count a great deal
hassleblad at 50MP
my canons 21 megapixels provides a lot of headroom but I could have a great deal of fun with the panasonic phone camera Im sure.
