That is why I suspect that Nikon’s next pro model will have more pixels but pixels alone do not tell the whole story.

A few months ago, Pop Photo had a short about Pentax’s new medium format camera. I don’t remember the number of pixels but I think it was around 50MP. They took a photo of the Brooklyn Bridge then a tiny portion enlarged and the quality was astounding.

Must have been a pretty decent lens too. It looked almost just like my old Pentax 645. I think it takes the same lenses too.

absolutely!

there is a scale of usability beyond which most photographers dont much care.

The Model 6000-HS Scan Back is ideal for:

Commercial /Advertising Studios
Architectural and Landscape Photography
Industrial Photography Departments
Museum and Library Archiving
Art Reproduction
Model 6000-HS $12,995
6000 x 8000 pixels
137 MB max. file 24-bit RGB
274 MB max. file 48-bit RGB
Includes a two-year parts and
labor warranty.

thats just the digital BACK for a Camera Body

I dont hink that Photoshop will process a 48 Bit image
