A tooth need to be extracted along the axis of the tooth. Although a baby tooth has minimal root structure, there is tissues including bone structure involved and that includes the teeth next to it if there are any. If there was pain in pulling it, it wasn’t ready to come out yet... There is rarely pain when a kid looses a baby tooth.
