WASHINGTON, - An American dad made himself and his 7-year-old son into viral stars with a video chronicling a baby tooth extraction using dental floss, a golf club and a golf ball.
Phil Smith said his son, Noah, complained of pain when they attempted to simply pull the loose tooth out of his mouth, so he devised a system using a piece of floss to connect the tooth to a golf ball he then struck with a club.
"My 7-year-old wanted to pull his tooth but was concerned it would be too painful to pull SLOWLY," Smith wrote in the description of the video posted to YouTube. "So we did it QUICKLY and in his words with no pain, just a little fear."
The video, which appears to have been shot somewhere in the United States, has gone viral on YouTube, with commenters' opinions ranging from calling the stunt "child abuse" to "teeth pulling done right."
.....uhhhmmmm.....uhnnnnnn......
I’m sure he’s been investigated for Tea Party membership already.
LOL, brings back memories. Our dad tied floss to tooth and then the doorknob. Slam the door, job was done.
WOW was I wrong I figered he told the kid to keep his eye on the ball, quickly knocked him out with the golf club and then wrapped some dental floss around the tooth and yanked that sucker out. ;-)
Same here.
Has the dad posted bond yet?
My grandfather, God rest him, tied one end of the string to my tooth and the other to a door knob. Then he slammed the door shut.
L
Probably a hoax. Hope it is...
If it’s not, the guy is a looney tune and should be locked up. Not to say that a parent should not pull a child’s baby tooth, but there’s way too much chance of damaging gum tissue with such a stupid thing as this.
The father used ingenuity (I may have seen this on the 3 Stooges), humor and self reliance to accomplish a task that used to be mundane but to many is now overwhelming.
Obviously he should have taken the tyke to a transgendered, undocumented migrant healthcare worker for the proper gender counseling and an abortion.
I can actually remember the pain of my baby teeth coming loose and it would take forever for them to fall out naturally. Luckily, I had a merciful big brother who took care of it with dental floss, door knobs and doors.
This is a creative method. Glad my brother did not think of it. : )
We did a chair, a door handle, and a rock, a few times. Kids will try just about anything once.
;-)
My stepson had new teeth growing behind his baby teeth. His mouth looked kind of like a Great White Shark with rows of teeth. I told him that if he did not pull the teeth that I would tie a string around each tooth and tie it to the door knob. In less than a minute he pulled all of the teeth himself, with his fingers!
ROFL
Of course, this was years before the child-abuse-police came into being. ;-)
Hey... what’s your handle on DemocraticUnderground? Just curious...
That’s VERY DANGEROUS!!
He tee’d it up right next to a sprinkler nozzle!!!
Could’a hit the sprinkler and judging from the gutter conditions behind him, he’s not too handy around the house.
How do you know when the baby tooth is ripe for pulling?
And what happens if you do the doorknob trick too early?
This ain’t the way.
Use Old West Dentistry...
They used a small wooden dowel and a small hammer.
Position dowel on tooth...whack the dowel with the hammer.
Tooth pops out.
For many teeth the dowel can be positioned on either side.
Then use a moistened tea bag held firmly over the tooth socket to stanch blood flow if needed. (the tannin in tea is a type of polyphenol which clots blood)
