The California Department of Motor Vehicles is training some 900 new employees and opening four new license processing centers to deal with the expected onslaught of undocumented immigrants who will be eligible for a driver’s license this new year.
Starting Friday, under a new law requiring the California DMV to provide illegal immigrants driver’s licenses, the state DMV is bracing for the newly eligible applicants.

Hasn’t it been ruled in several localities that asking for a license from illegals is racists? I know in CA they quit towing cars of illegals when they couldn’t produce license or registration during routine traffic stops; of course the same consideration was not given to citizens.
Now you’ve gone and given CA legislators an idea; diver’s licenses. People should not be allowed to dive without proper gov’t training, testing and annual fees.
I see this as a twofer for the Socialist-Democrats that run the State of California (in which I live BTW).
1, More people on government payroll dependent upon government for their living.
2, More Democrat voters to perpetuate the Socialist-Democrats in power.
These people are illegally in this State, this Country of ours, and should be blocked from entering, and unceremoniously tossed out, back to where they came from.
Call me naive but if the illegal aliens get licenses, why wouldn’t INS or ICE or whomever, just raid the addresses and deport the illegal aliens? It would save a lot of money in investigations, wouldn’t it? Seems simple to me!
California is not permitted to share the information with DHS.
But remember, a State has no right to make a law having anything to do with immigration. Mariana Pfaelzer told us so.

I recently had to spend upwards of an hour going through the line to be “inspected”. What for?
If the Kenyan says it’s no big deal to be in the country illegally, and Jerry Brown agrees, why not do away with the charade? Stop issuing and inspecting passports, let people just walk in unimpeded and let the chaos begin.

I’m sure. However, if a business demands that their employees speak English, that’s discrimination.
I thought most every city was a ‘sancutary city’ in CA.
So why bother having a valid, real D.L.?
More work for gov’t employees for one thing.
Washington State, a hop and a skip to the north already gives license to illegals, but Oregon voted them down.
Presumably a goodly number of these new workers speak Spanish. Just sayin...
