On the plane back to Michigan -- a journey that took a few hours or almost three decades, depending on your perspective -- Jim Harbaugh looked at his kids.
They had some stocking caps from my kids from the M Den, he told SI.com. My daughter Addie was wearing a scarf. We had a gift bag of some hats and things. When I saw my kids in the maize and blue, it was a terrific feeling. It took me back to a place
I remember going to Moes Sporting Goods, and Im looking at my kids with their stuff, their scarves, their Michigan gloves ... I would have loved to have that as a kid. You would hope you would get something like that for Christmas.

NEVER! Besides, I grew up hating Ohio State because I lived in Ann Arbor, and was a Michigan fan long before I even knew where Gainesville, Florida was.
I had the Sports Illustrated cover with Rick Leach on my bedroom wall.
And speaking of Leach, Here is 14-year old Michigan ball boy Jim Harbaugh, congratulating Rick Leach as he scored a TD against Duke in 1977
Wishful thinking.....Go Gators! Go Blue!
Oh, wait. . .
If I still lived there I would be most unhappy about $62 million of my tax dollars going to pay a football coach.
Not tax dollars. Major NCAA football programs run a huge profit.
It’s a state school. Any “profits” they make should be getting plowed back into education (or, heaven forbid, a rebate for the long-suffering taxpayers)
Of course down here in Pennsylvania we don’t overpay our coaches. We just bow down and worship them like gods.
To bring U of M back up to the top 10 level he's going to have to recruit some big, fast and academically challenged athletes.........Oh wait, didn't he once blast U of M for doing just that?
I expect that Harbaugh does best when he feels in control of the situation. He was not a great fit as a Bears QB, but diid a lot better with a different coaching staff at Indy. (I’m a lifelong Bears fan, sorry to say).
College football is a perfect fit for this guy. I expect Michigan to return to its former glory days. The competition has greatly improved since the 1970’s. My beloved Illini will never compete, but look out for Wisconsin, Iowa, and their old foes at OSU.
You are not going to fill 100+ K Michigan Stadium with a losing program. UM fans screamed bloody murder about the Coke promotion this year; free UM tickets by buying a Coke. If the administration did not bring in Harbaugh and the football program continued to mire in mediocrity profits from the athletic program would drop like a rock. Some people claim that Nick Saban considering all the money he brings in from his top flight ‘Bama program is vastly underpaid.
According to the Washington Post, Harbaugh will be paid 9.4% of net Football program revenues, whereas Saban is paid 8.1% of net revenues. Alabama just brings in more money than Michigan.
Mark Dantonio is paid 12.1% of net revenue.

So who is the highest paid Government employee in the country, Harbaugh or Saban?
THIS! GO GATORS!
I havent seen his contract yet but I bet the majority of his pay is booster money as it is for most major programs. However when you consider the amount of money a major program can earn for a University any cries over how much the HC gets paid is based in an absolute vacuum of economic knowledge
Not a Michigan fan...but I’ll say Great for Michigan. Me I’m a PSU fan and an UConn fan.
I feel like I am reading the Boneyard (UConn fan site).
Ugh... Duke.... I HATE THEM...
Only if the GOD was JoePa...
Excited about beating Duke?
Go Hoosiers! If only we’d had a passing game to open up Tevin Coleman. Aaaaaargghh!
The Entire Big Ten will benefit from this.
