Friends, it's Sunday night again and time to relax. Warm up the tubes for another 4 hours of classic radio Americana.
Info *tonight's show will be available at the "Info" link starting tomorrow.
Official OTR blog of "The Big Broadcast" thread:
It’s the most, wonderful time, of the year....Hi all, hope your holidays are dreamy...I’m back from a quick trip to Atlanta and ready for some OTR. This is the last BB thread of 2014. Thanks for being here and may 2015 give you everything you seek.
Lineups don’t get much stronger than tonight’s....Jack Benny...the awesome Phil Harris and Alice Faye...Burns and Allen are classic...and a solid last hour- best listened to in the dark- of Mysterious Traveler and Inner Sanctum.
How you doing?
It's a Happy New Year show with a "Mysterious Traveler" and an "Inner Sanctum." And, it looks like the "Inner Sanctum" is a lesson in exercising moderation in New Year's Eve libations. We have a sad New Year's Eve-set "Dragnet" with a policeman getting shot. Coincidence with New Year's approaching or the recent barbaric headlines? Hmmm...

Happy New Year, Vision! We’ve been at this for quite a while now. I can’t remember how many years we’ve been hanging out here with you on Sunday evenings. I still look forward to it each week. :-)
You had a good trip? I’m sure you’re glad to be home. It’s foggy here with my usual doing-laundry Sunday. We might have leftovers for dinner. Whatchoo got?
Hey Gina, it has been a while, just did a rough investigation and it seems we’ve been at this, at least, since 2010. Amazing.
The trip was great. ATL is a nightmare of an airport IMO. But Atlanta-ians are kind.
I’m relaxing and will reheat some steak for dinner. Scored some awesome cookbooks for Christmas and will keep you updated...
Very good! Cookbooks are cool, but recipes are a lot of work and ingredients. HA!
I hate airports. Even small ones.
Agreed.
That pork recipe from last week/thread is easy, you have to try it.
Yes, that’s a simple recipe, and it looks VERY good.
The whole recipe link actually has a picture of Chef John’s face, which I’ve not seen before. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pork-Tenderloin-Diablo/Detail.aspx
Beautiful. How does that dial work?
That must be Chester Proudfoot's cousin. :-)
The dial is presets.
It looks like it’s all there, but you have to assume none of it works. That’s my negotiating leverage.
Nice piece of furniture though.
Correct! His relative with the eating disorder. The CPA.
HAHAHA!! :-)
This Dragnet is so sad, them telling his wife...
So you dial a station, and each hole of the dial is a preset? What are the presets labeled?
