Gavin Grimm and the ACLU argue that the Gloucester County School Board violated Title IX when it approved a rule restricting school restrooms to students with “corresponding biological genders.”

A transgender teenager in rural Virginia is taking his case to the U.S. Department of Justice, arguing in a complaint that the Gloucester County School Board violated his rights by approving a policy this month prohibiting students from using restrooms that do not correspond to their “biological genders.”

The complaint, sent Thursday, argues the school board ran afoul of Title IX, a 1972 law that bans gender-based discrimination, which has been interpreted recently to protect students from discrimination based on their gender identify.

There was no LGBT-whatever in my high school class which, imo, further proves it’s a fad and ginned up by those who crave attention.

We had those we were suspicious about. Of my class of '87 (400 students), I can count exactly one lesbian and no sodomites that have come out (that may have changed in the last 17 years, I haven't kept up). I was actually good friends with the lesbian in Jr. High and High School. I think there were issues early on (no one ever mentioned molestation, but these days, it seems to fit). She suffered from anorexia between 9th and 10th grade, beat that, then suffered from being overweight in H.S., then normalized weight-wise after H.S., last time I saw her in person, she'd come out (10-year reunion in '97).

Last I heard of her, she was fighting for gay marriage in Idaho.

“When a school district accepts federal funds, it does so on the condition of following federal laws,” school board member Kimberly Hensley, who is also an attorney, told BuzzFeed News before the complaint was filed. She cast the only dissenting vote on the seven-member school board. “I truly believe we are in violation of Title IX and at risk of losing our federal funding.

And here is why you don't want your federal government exceeding its Constitutional authority.

How about the court ordering a DNA test and then assign him/her/it to the appropriate bath room

There was a time when we understood that this is a mental illness. Now, Americans elect representatives who push for this.

I hope and pray 2014 wasn't a fluke.

Exactly, if you have to go, you have to go. As long as I get a room, even if it has the so called unisex label, I DO NOT CARE.

So this doesn’t make any sense? Why use a restroom when you can’t use the urinal?

Over 20 years ago my English class once had a discussion on homosexuality. I said something similar to your comment. The teacher laughed and called me a redneck. I had to ask my mom what that meant when I got home. The sexual perversion fad has only gotten stronger and weirder.

Hubby says there weren’t any he knew of in his class either and he still keeps up with most everyone.
