I’d love to short Tesla stock, but I’m smart enough never to bet against a regime affiliated company.

I love the Tesla because it is a very well thought out electric car.

However, all of us who have made it through at least undergrad Physics/Engineering curricula know this.

To an MSM bottom O’the SAT barrel slug, well, it’s news.

So, purchase a Tesla if you want to have fun with a very neat machine, but don’t fool yourself into thinking you’re saving the earth. (P.S., true also for Prius types. At least the Tesla folks get a cool carl)

It’s not about being green.

It’s about being smug about being green!

I like what the graph shows but horseshite science is horseshite science, whether it affirms or denies your beliefs

Seems to me this is really just another attack on coal generated electrical power.

Studies like this assume “health effects” start at the tailpipe. They don’t.

It takes 6-9 kWh of grid electricity to refine one gallon of gasoline. It takes diesel(7-10 kWh per gallon) to transport gasoline to gas station. Then it takes grid electricity to pump gas from station tanks into gasoline car. Then 75%-80% of energy in gasoline is wasted as heat. A Tesla is 90% efficient. If we simply stopped refining oil into gasoline we would have enough electricity to fuel an American fleet of electric cars.

Virtually all of our electricity is American sourced with a bit imported from Canada. Gasoline cars prop up global demand for oil which props up global price for oil which in turn bank rolls Czar Vladimir,Caliph Ibrahim,Ayatollah Khamenei, King Abdullah, and Presidente-por-Vida Maduro.

vehicles powered by electricity derived from wind and solar power have the least health effects.

Apparently they didn't include electricity from hydro or nuclear.

This is the AP here. The graph clearly shows the story is a hit on coal electricity generation and nothing else. They of course would be perfectly happy with heavily $ub$idized windmills and solar panels.

When someone makes an EV that’ll pull my 7,000 pound boat for 200 miles on a charge and it’ll recharge fully in 10 minutes and cost less than 35 grand maybe I’ll have a look. Otherwise these things are a waste of good sheet metal.

Yep. Electric cars burn ethanol, coal, and increasingly, natural gas through power plants. And the more electric cars running on natural gas, the higher natural gas heating bills will go. And installing enough PV solar power to charge an electric vehicle: not recommended.

The real key to using less fuel is a much more decentralized, distributed economy with many more community manufacturing and other production operations. Then, much less driving and flying would be required to maintain that economy. The economy would be much more secure and enduring. Don't let the monopolies starve everyone to death with their artificial scarcity. Produce something!

Duh. These central planners always think they can beat the market. They’re really rent seeking hyper-political weasels.
