A teenager who was bullied by online trolls posted a heartbreaking video on YouTube before killing himself, an inquest heard.
Adam Smith, 19, who had learning difficulties, was bombarded with spiteful remarks and accused of plagiarism over a short story he put on a website.
In response to the vicious bullying, he posted a video on YouTube entitled Im sorry where he apologised for any misunderstanding.
But he was lambasted again by cruel users, who mocked him saying his speech problems were so bad it made them laugh.
Days later he was seen crying as he walked to a railway line near his home, where he was hit by a two-carriage train.

Will society?
That's how you look at it.
To him? This was probably the one place in his life he felt welcomed, accepted, even valued. Writing fanfiction gave him access to a community. Probably even praise from his chosen associates. To face losing that? Sounds like he wasn't a well-adjusted person, and losing what was probably the only place that treated him like a valuable human being instead of a misfit, was his last straw.
Not hard to believe, but then, some of the most rewarding friendships of my life have started or been entirely online. To say nothing of finding my husband on FR...
No. Society will continue to coddle malcontents and make them “special snowflakes”.
Exactly.
And what some men (they are so hung up on “manliness” and very insecure) call “effeminate” is really just variation from the norm.
Men are SO paranoid about “manliness”. Very insecure; God forbid they stray just a bit off the “norm”. God forbid they be like the dreaded, hated average woman. Meanwhile, perfectly acceptable for girls to do anything men are supposed to like. Wearing pants, playing GI Joe, gun battles in the yard, all OK.
I can think of so many men who are off the beaten path, but hardly homo. That is what men seem to be so scared of.
My uncle is one who is absolutely a wimp when it comes to anything “blood”, even mentioning it (I fear my son at 6yo is much this way, as well as like his father who has many fears). He starts to faint, and I do not mean just at age 80. But he is a very smart man, a lawyer, and speaks multiple languages he learned himself and reads even more. He was also very handsome, and he and his brother (the doctor, LOL) were much coveted by the ladies. And he really LIKED the ladies, despite some of his own “feminine” proclivities.
Oh I will.
Please do not let kids become cruel.
They can figure out abnormality by themselves when they are mature.
For the record, I’m a brony. And frankly, I’m rather disgusted by some folks on here suggesting...bad things about people who enjoy the show.
Perhaps those of you who think poorly of it should see “Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony”. It was made by several actors and creators of the show because they were touched by the fandom and appalled at how we’re treated by some folks.
My name is on that, as a donor.
This brings to mind that Baltimore incident the other year when 2 black women brutally beat up a white “transgender” (transexual or transvestite, I never fount out) in McDonald’s, while even (black) employees egged them on. They even kicked back and old white woman who actually tried to make them stop.
Sorry, as much as I am disgusted by homosexuality ruling the day and being catered to everywhere openly, this hostile and brutal reaction is DISGUSTING. Yes, “s/he” was in the women’s room, but did s/he really deserve to be punched and kicked like that?
Yes, just like here now, FR was replete with those excusing it, as in “well.....we don’t like them” shrugging it away.
Few gentlemen exist. Very few.
My 10 year old niece *loves* “My Little Pony”.Her 8 year old brother couldn’t care less.I think there was a lesson for this kid to have learned from that.
Many of these kids are afraid of not meeting some expectations that are forced on them by “society” or their peers.
Others, those that are well adjusted, essentially say “to hell with what you want”, I’m my own person.
For those who advocate that bullying is somehow essential to making some conform to what our expectations are...ponder on this...
God has made us all in His image...
See my other comments, especially below about the transexual attack.
And you are right, contrary to other comments, not every Brony is “unstable”, I am sure.
I have to see this show. Don’t know if I can stomach it, but I could if it refrains from the constant drumbeat of a) environmental worship and b) Spanish worship, sometimes couched in more general cultural references. Those are constants in modern kid shows, and I hate the indoctrination. Never mind all the potty humor.
He didn’t just quit the area where he was hanging out. He didn’t take a break. He didn’t Walk away from the computer and go read a book or volunteer at a soup kitchen or visit people at the nursing home.
He killed himself.
In my world, it’s a rather drastic way of dealing with an emotional setback involving a bunch of people you don’t know on the internet.
Doesnt that deserve a little bullying?
A Good Dad would have taken care of it, before things got out of hand. "No, Son, you're not playing with My Pretty Pony Dolls. Because I said so." And that would have been that. A little fatherly work (bullying? liberals would say so, because the kid isn't being allowed to do whatever he wants, when he wants....) and the problem is solved - or never would exist to begin with.
Darwin steps in, where traditional family fails.
I try to decipher all by the best example of humanity, the warrior Messiah who came first as servant, and will come again as King of the World. What are His standards?
1. We all have a plan for our lives and are given talents, 1, 5, 10. We will be judged by what we do with those talents.
2. Any stumbling block against keeping the kids from knowing Him and His plan for them is unacceptable. Therefore, coddling is unacceptable and as my sister does with her son with the mind of a 5 year old who is in his late 20’s, working folding napkins is a glory to the Lord.
3. We are judged by every word that proceeds from our mouth. Is what we are saying here spoken to make ourselves feel better about ourselves or to glorify the King? I believe that those who are physically deformed represent our deformed souls and as Jesus healed the crippled, so are our souls healed. So the next time we see someone who is deformed, they are our soul mirror, it may not be them who is truly deformed.
4. Who does the Great King (a warrior who takes out all His enemies upon His return) call to establish His earthly kingdom and who are inheritors of the earth?
Micah 4:5-7
In that day, declares the Lord,
I will assemble the lame
And gather the outcasts,
Even those whom I have afflicted.
7 I will make the lame a remnant
And the outcasts a strong nation,
And the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion
From now on and forever.
Zephaniah 3: 18-10
Behold, I am going to deal at that time
With all your oppressors,
I will save the lame
And gather the outcast,
And I will turn their shame into praise and renown
In all the earth.”
And, of course, the meek will inherit the earth. What did the Roman warriors do to the Messiah before His crucifixion and what did the civilians (including teachers) do to Him while He was on the cross? They MOCKED Him.
So who is really blind, lame, and has a reading disability?
:nodding: Having been an Eagle Scout and Asst. Scoutmaster back in the day, I know just what you’re saying.
Hazing was and still is a necessary part of growing up; unfortunately, that aggressiveness is being bred out of our youth. If you can, as a Scouter, get them thru this period in time, then that’s precisely where you need to be, and good on ya!
I have a 12-year-old adopted son who is autistic and developmentally delayed, and he LOVES My Little Pony. If anyone dares call him a p***y I will kick their asses so hard they’ll have to part their hair to break wind.
The kid was developmentally delayed. What’s your excuse, asshole?
A MLP fan has maturity issues.
Anyone who decides it’s worth the time and effort to make a possibly mentally feeble person, or even a “pussy”, feel miserable is a douchebag.
