Woman joins pro-choice movement. Could she have become pro-life instead?
Clinic Quotes ^ | August 14, 2014 | Sarah Terzo

This is how a woman became an abortion clinic escort.

First, she attended a pro-choice march.

“My participation in the pro-choice march was motivated by boredom and restlessness as much as by a desire to be of service. I had thought about getting involved in some kind of cause, but I didn’t know which one. Having been too young in the 60s to participate in the peace movement, I look forward to attending a real political march. I didn’t attend the antichoice march held the same day because the newspaper letters to the editor with “pro-life” views seem too cold, uncaring, and judgmental; one letter even said that any woman who died from an illegal abortion deserve to die.”

….

“One woman speaker at the post-March rally asked for volunteers to assist clients entering the Women’s Health Organization, the only women’s health care facility performing abortions in northeastern Indiana. First trimester abortions are performed at this clinic by an out of city physician (any local doctor doing abortions will be blackballed by the community in Fort Wayne, known as “the city of churches”). As coordinator of clinic defense, the woman arranged for escorts to help those with appointments get past the antiabortion protesters. The escorts, both men and women, were volunteers with no official connection to the clinic. From her speech, escorting sounded like an exciting kind of service: necessary, different, dangerous, and more stimulating than stuffing envelopes. As a Christian, I also felt an obligation to work for justice and equality.”

Anne Eggebroten, ed Abortion: My Choice, God’s Grace (Pasadena, California: New Paradigm Books, 1994) 160

This shows that pro-lifers who say judgemental and cruel things about postabortion women drive people away from the movement. Had this person not been turned off from the pro-life cause, she might have ended up on the other side of the picket line.

Being an abortion clinic escort is a volunteer job. What I have always wondered is why women, and sometimes men are stupid enough to do this? Stupid in the volunteer part! Lets think about this okay? They are there to protect the women from those mean, evil, brutal, anti choicers who might harm them, somehow, yet they are not paid? Really? As much money as that clinic makes in abortions these people are not paid at least $10.00 an hour and are a Union? I mean think about it! That is a tough job. We all know (MAJOR SARC HERE) how tough those anti choice people can be. I can't believe they do that job for free and are non Union!!

I call bogus. Letters to the editor like this would not be published and in my many years on the sidewalk I have never heard anything approaching that. This is a straw man article to gather more volunteers.

I’ve seen it! Heck I’ve seen FReepers here say stuff “like” it! I remember the Gosnell trial and how they wanted to to do a Count Vlad on him. We don’t know who all is reading this site. There are lurkers here. Some are from the left. So be careful what you say!

That's like saying that your treating criminals like criminals made me have sympathy for them and caused me to join them....

I’m not totally disagreeing with the statement about judging others. I’m only saying that their logic is not logical as justification for their actions.

While abortion is murder, we must have compassion for those who have abortions and not “judge” them. They are torturing their souls, even if they are in denial.

I’ve worked with many women who are proclaiming “pro-choice and have had abortions.” In virtually every instance, when the memory of the event is opened the wound is evident and the intense emotions flow. Our pure souls when we are born know the difference between right and wrong, not matter what we justify and proclaim intellectually.

I have also found that the loudest pro-choice activists are really only trying to convince others that the action they have already taken and feel much guilt about is ok if they can convince others that it is ok.

Saying that “any woman who died from an illegal abortion deserve to die.” is not exactly showing the love of Christ.

We all need Christ’s Mercy. Sometimes we as Christians need to step back and see how we look to non Christians.

My reply would have been “It’s a shame there were no Crisis Pregnancy Centers for her”. Or better yet, “It’s a shame no one in her Church could have helped her”. I would have ended it with “May God have mercy on her soul”.

You can’t imagine the guilt trip that happens when a woman who previously had an abortion then has a miscarriage. It causes them to re-think their actions.

I do have compassion for all people who get the Darwin Award.

But PT Barnum was correct and people make bizarre choices.

God gave us free will, but holds us accountable for our choices.

This story merely shows how vapid most people are about judgments and moral values. They are influenced by celebrities, popular culture, gossip, new age superstitions, appearances and the media. Most do not have the capacity or framework to make logical much less moral choices. Remember the political reality is that Obama was elected twice in modern day neo pagan America.

one letter even said that any woman who died from an illegal abortion deserve to die.”

The abortion industry is silent on botched abortions at legal clinics. Wendy Davis and her shrill crowd attacked those who sought to put medical protections in place for women who suffer botched abortions.

Gosnell was operating a legal (but crooked) clinic that was protected by corrupt figures in the health department.

The hanger is a lie. The scissors used in late term abortion are not.

“The abortion industry is silent on botched abortions at legal clinics. “

Not the abortion industry, that was the media! The whole Gosnell trail, never reported on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, or even FOX. Well maybe Fox, but not like it should have been.

Cause, you know, that worked out so well, with all that peace and stuff...
