The Agents of SHIELD midseason finale went big, revealing the Marvel Comics-based identities of both Skye and her father, The Doctor. But that wasnt all, as Skye and Raina made it into the chamber in the mysterious hidden city where a mist would transform them into something Inhuman.
Yes, its true! On the heels of plenty of fan speculation, the Inhumans have made their first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, years before their 2018 movie, via Agents of SHIELD. While they may not have said the words Inhumans or Attilan, any lingering doubts as to what were dealing with are cleared up by executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon in my post-midseason finale chat with the duo, who confirm those are indeed Inhumans and also discuss the reveal that Skye is Daisy Johnson (and her father Marvels Calvin Zabo/Mister Hyde), how they decided Agent Antoine "Trip" Triplett wouldnt survive the episode and more.

Yep - as a long-time Marvel fan I caught the clues about Skye in teh past few weeks, so this wasn’t as big a surprise as it should have been, but I am a huge fan of the show.
And they killed off the black guy. At least they could have put him in a red shirt, as Star Trak famously did to their expendable characters. Why is Hollywood so racist?
I have been watching this series from day 1. Looking forward to seeing how they do with Agent Carter.
Here, 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.': Latest victim speaks out, Agent Triplett actor BJ Britt talks about his death...
When will they put more episodes on Netflix. I canceled the hyw robbing cable company.
When I was much younger, I used to read the various Marvel comics—and get chided for it, too.
I used to think, “Man, this episode would make a great movie or TV show!” Little did I realize they’d do just that.
Anyway, I’m really enjoying the series. A lot of people didn’t like Season 1, but I loved it. Bill Paxton was great as John Garrett. Loved the scene with him flying while listening to the Reaper!
I really did want to see the Doctor—whom we now know is Calvin Zabo—hulk out on Whitehall! Why did Coulson have to shoot him!?
I love the show but have to admit that I know nothing of the characters. I did not read any of the comics so I have no reference point for who is who on the show. Which is probably pretty good advertising for the show - you don’t have to know all the comic characters to enjoy the show. I do love Coulson and the guy playing him plays him perfectly. I was also hoping Ward would be a good guy, but he seems to be too messed up - especially now that Skye shot him. I also wish they would not have messed with the Fitz/Simmons relationship. I really liked how they interacted as co-workers and making it an awkward one sided love interest kind of disappointed me. Looking forward to next season.
I've said for quite some time that the comics book industry IS the R&D department for Hollywood.
I was thrilled to tears when the first X-Men movie came out. I have been an X-Men fan since issue #1. Uncanny X-Men, Astounding X-Men, X-Factor, The New Mutants, etc.
Heck, my son was practically raised on X-Men. He would love sitting for hours reading my comic books.
“And they killed off the black guy.”
Did he have his hands up? Could he breathe?
I’m a fan of the show, when do they start up again?
I had a bad feeling about Tripp when he kept getting billed as a guest star and not a regular.
This half a season has been much better than the 1st half of the 1st. Too much foot dragging last year waiting to rev up for the Hydra plot. It’s surprising it took them this long to get the Inhumans in, having sold the movie rights to mutants when they sold the X-Men Inhumans were a pretty obvious way to get “mutants” into the MCU. Overall I like the direction things are going, but I’m still not watching Antman, hate that character.
I've heard that a lot but I really didn't see it. I liked the Skye/Rising Tide--> Shield agent meme and even liked the episodes on Mike/Deathlock, The Graviton scientist, the Flame dude...
Whatever happened to Quinn?
Not much happened in that first half. They spent a lot of time “world building” without really building anything. Then when they got revving up for CA2 they got to actually start telling stories. If the first half of the season had been 3 or 4 episodes it would be fine, it just took too long to put the pieces in place. Quinn got superseded, he was really just working for Hydra.
Haven’t read Marvel since I was a kid but enjoy the show.
Like the Marvel movies it’s just good fun.
The actor playing him is also cast in other series, so I’m guessing they mutually decided he was over-extended on his commitments
You can watch the last four or five episodes directly from ABC.com. It’s how I watch all my network TV as I don’t have cable and the superhero shows are too much for my daughter.
An update since I am still watching.
I do not watch network TV. But I do for this show. The ratings continue to be poor (a 1.4 the week before) so I’ll watch it live if my cable selection is worth it to anyone. I am not a Nielsen family.
Anyway, I am continuing to be pleased by the show and heard last night on Jimmy Kimmel, who had most of the Avenger’s actors on, that Captain America will be on the season ending episode!
I started watching the show on Netflix and got hooked in Season one. Then Hydra took over and I’m done. The problem is that Hydra is a wild card that can be played at any time. Any character, no matter how “committed” to Shield, can be turned into a Hydra operative by the writers, when the script needs it.
That makes it too unbelievable for me. I’m done. Sad. I was getting into the characters. I saw it as Firefly meets Red meets The Expendables. These are all movies both my wife and I really like.
The first season was good, I’ll not bother with the “hydra” nonsense.
