"When Olivia Papa signed up for a new health plan last year, her insurance company assigned her to a primary care doctor. The relatively healthy 61-year-old didn't try to see the doctor until last month, when she and her husband both needed authorization to see separate specialists.
She called the doctor's office several times without luck.
"They told me that they were not on the plan, they were never on the plan and they'd been trying to get their name off the plan all year," said Papa, who recently bought a plan from a different insurance company.
It was no better with the next doctor she was assigned. The Naples, Florida, resident said she left a message to make an appointment, "and they never called back."
The Papas were among the 6.7 million people who gained insurance through the Affordable Care Act last year, flooding a primary care system that is struggling to keep up with demand.

Obamacare, the “free gift” that keeps in giving.
bump
I live in Memphis. My hospital group no longer accepts Obamacare. And yes, the EBT Gimmedats also call it Obamacare. Well, when they are told they have to go 100 miles to Little Rock Arkansas to see a doctor, they go full Botswana Banshee on the staff. Other places I’ve been seems to irritate them even more. You see, the free medical care is only for preventive and wellness visits mandated under Obamacare. If they need to be seen for something else, it’s got huge deductibles. They don’t understand? They just keep screaming “But I gots me Obamacare insurance”!
Future spew alert for colorful characterizations would be greatly appreciated. Now where's the damn windex?
This only effects the non-EXEMPT and non-Moslems.
That is what the Congress gave America when not
importing EV-68, arming al QAeda, and creating
an IRS/Obamacare MOnster.
Are congress critters included in the 0bamafraud system? If not, we should insist that they either repeal it or join it.
Doctors are licensed by the state.
A crisis situation exists.
I see a compelling interest existing which would require doctors to treat obamacare patients as a condition of approval for state license.
The plan from day one.
I’m from Memphis, too. During the TennCare debacle, my primary physician was in Germantown. Before he figured out he might never get paid by Tennessee, he accepted TennCare patients. His waiting room had a red line on the floor. One side was for patients with private insurance, the other side was for TennCare folks. I was always able to breeze in and never had to wait more than a few minutes to see the man with his name on the front door. The TennCare side was always crammed with sick people who looked miserable and very angry. They were typically forced to wait and wait and wait to see one overworked resident.
I cannot imagine being sent to Little Rock to see a doctor.
Veterans can get treated by VA.
Those who get a subsidy are receiving welfare. They have to wait? Boo hoo.
Baptist Medical Group here.
Congress and it’s staffers are exempt from Obamacare mandates.
There are well over 30 states where the GOP controls the legislature. They're not going to require that physicians treat Obamacare patients. And if the Rat controlled states try this, there will be a mass exodus of physicians and they'll be in worse shape than they were in before.
Nice balance between Europe and Africa—well done!
I find that hard to believe. Photo or it never happened.
I know that in Washington State with Basic Health there was never anything like that nor would it have been tolerated.
Lie one: If you like your physician you can keep your physician.
Well, a whole lot have lost their physician, it’s true, but I have not.
When health care is free there will be no health care.
