Can't print Google maps anymore and can't figure out what is wrong. Can print any other webpage via usual means, just can't get a selected address map to print. Can someone lend assistance to the technology-challenge freeper please?

XP Pro
This is really frustrating. Just can’t print Google maps. Can print any other website page. Why?
What browser do you use?
Chrome
(insert obligatory ‘get a mac comment’ here)
XP’s pretty good. Might be worth updating the printer driver, though.
I’m guessing google is exercising a subtly different part of the driver for preview and print, and that particular flavor is corrupted or missing
It will print Mapquest maps. Will just have to use Mapquest. Thanks.
If any browser would be fully compatible with google maps, it would be google Chrome...
Wouldn’t you think?
Yeah, it’s not like they are microsoft!
Have you tried to print the map via IE?
I have several browsers. Some will open video files, some won’t. Some will open/save PDFs, some won’t.
Try to print through IE.
Have you rebooted? Have you installed any new programs or upgrades?
Have you previously been able to print maps out of Chrome? If so, what software/upgrade changes have you made since you could print?
Take a hammer and beat your computer with it until it learns its lesson.
I would help you but I’m not logged in.
You can print it from the File menu in IE. If you have a screen capture app, you can use that as well. You can also use some other map, like mapquest.
Check printer cable. If its a network printer (no cable; connected o the network) it will print to a certain IP address; if the IP address is incorrect it won’t print to the networked printer. If that’s the problem you’ll need to lookup what the IP address is on your computer in the Setup menu. Take down the IP number then go into The Chrome browser and edit the IP address that’s entered into your browser if there is a place on your browser that’s in your bar area you can right click on it and put in the correct IP address
Tried turning the printer off then back on? The computer?
If that doesn’t work clear your Internet cache using a free program like a cleanup! By Steven Gould or CCleaner.
If that doesn’t work try reinstalling the drivers.
Have you recently changed your color v. Black/greyscale settings? Those can cause an entirely white or black sheet in some cases.
Restarted computer. Turned printer on and off. Cleared cache. Haven’t check IP address and will have to reread carefully how to do that. It shows letters, etc. on edge of preview, but not map content. Very strange.
Reinstalled driver. It printed a page of messages here on Free Republic. It will NOT print Google maps.
Had similar trouble with XP Pro a couple of months ago. Was able to print to a .pdf file, and then print that. Worked for me, your milage may vary.
Yes, google did change something. It’s not you or your hardware.
A few months ago I tried printing a google map and also printed a blank page. Then I found a link that led to google classic map, old google or some such thing.
I wish I had saved the link.
Good luck!
This morning, I switched to the old maps view, and was able to print just fine. I could not get a decent print-out in the new maps, since all the instructions turned into random characters.
When I switched to the old view, there was a short survey that asked why I switched. I had to mark the reason as “other” since there was no choice about inability to print.
