I'm sure there were plenty of local ordinances back in 1776.
Oh, please.
My understanding was that the cops were hanging about the neighborhood, and may have gotten cheesed because Garner had broken up a fight just moments before.
You know, kind of like changing a light bulb in a union shop...
]It seems that Americans are becoming inured to swarms of officers everywhere, on OUR tax dime, looking for "violations".
I call them "revenooers", myself.
Personally, I'm always entertained by the newest local building code changes every year.
It's tough driving to the job sites, what with dodging all the collapsing houses, garages & barns that were built to "non-conforming" standards... LOL! :)
“I call them “revenooers”, myself.”
Pretty much. Firemen enter burning buildings and save us, cops have testified in multiple lawsuits that they do not have to respond to calls for help much less help if they do arrive.
Oh, please.
The comment stands. Your response is nonsense.
Oh please.
I can think of only one example of that in my 50 years of personal experience.
You've been p0wn3d by Big Government, and you don't even see it.
Just because you think there may have been laws back in 1776 doesn’t make it true. Got any examples to offer?
Can’t he be a patriot by changing the law?
It would not surprise me at all if incidents like this were numerous back then.
We heard about this because it turned violent, it probably happens hundreds of times every day in one form or another.
American business people and individuals are trying their damdest to put up with all of the Government Bull crap but are about getting to the end of their rope.
Is it any wonder no one is sure who to even vote for?
I used to think I knew who the patriots were but now I confess I don`t know.
Do a search on the History of Blue Laws and public spitting laws for two examples.
My comment stands

LOL. More nonsense. I post daily about Big Government. I don't post hyperbole such as a policeman being behind every rock.
LOL.
I noticed the red coats didn’t shoot the dog.
See post 51. Just because you think there weren't many local ordinances back in 1776 doesn't make it true.
Nonsense, this wasn’t a special arrest method taught to cops to use if the arrest is cigarette based.
Like I wrote, you've been p0wn3d by Big Government.
I drive down the highway, and I see the sheriff's deputies pulling the trailers carrying the boats, or the four-wheelers, or the snowmobiles. I see 3 or 4 flavors of law enforcement officers every day. I see the undercover unmarked cars. I see the DHS trucks. I see the conservation officer trucks. I see the NPS trucks. I see the Fish and Wildlife trucks.
Why is it that YOU can't see them?
I'll tell you what I see. We have the media, and the executive branch of our federal government that are waging a propaganda war on local police departments. They want to federalize local LE.
And when that happens you will have a Real Big Centralized Corrupt Police State.
I always forget that quite a few FReepers (but not all!) from places like Big Nanny State New York & Taxachusetts are quite unaware of the chains that swaddle them like a Buffalo NY snowdrift.
May they sit lightly...
PS - it's nice that The Lord Governour Cuomo still allows NY state peasants like yourself to post on the Internet...
I apologize. I didn't realize you were from New York state its ownself. Sorry. Given my post above in bold, your response is stupid.
Do you understand what I said in the post? Seriously.
Yup. And if he had been dancing nude while spanking a pet monkey I bet they would have called the cops then too.
Yup. 'cause nude dancers spanking pet monkeys were a common problem in NYC while squeegee windshield cleaners and street merchants weren't. At. All.
