They are a city-state, not a country. Would you have considered Hong Kong a country before China subsumed it?

How does it feel to live in Croatia?

Could be worse. To the south of me is Bangladesh.

I am, strangely, wearing Croatian boots at the moment to attempt to navigate this ice rink up here. They're going pretty well except that I'm having these weird impulses to go kick a Serb with them...

RE: I do not know if I believe this.

I guess you’re a skeptic when it comes to governments reporting their GDP’s (including here in the USA ).

Note that Poland, Germany and France and the UK are missing from this “list”. These countries must be powerhouses.

How about Russia? Just read that since the barrel price of oil is down their trade is about the same as Spain. So where are they and Spain on this “list”.

Interesting. NC= Belgium. Belgium produces quite a lot.

Note that Belgium has more people than North Carolina.

So noted. Also noted the completely “gone” industries that were in NC and now overseas: furniture building, textile manufacturing, and.... even with largest output of tobacco in the US.... tobacco. RJ Reynold imports zimbabwean tobacco for god’s sake! The white corn liquor is still quite good and non governmentally proprietary. And incredible auto mechanics thanks to NASCAR.

Surely, it's per capita GDP that matters more.

By that measure, Delaware and Connecticut, say, are a lot better off than Azerbaijan and Pakistan.

Anyone can make waffles. It’s just heated dough.

They have beers that taste more like champagne than beer.

Some of the lambics are more like a cordial, others are sour.

The wheats like Blanc de Bruggs is light and clean....

I try to make it to the Belgian Beer Festival in Brussels every year, but have missed it the past few... 300+ Belgian Beers for three days in the Grand Place...

Then who ends up being the customer of tobacco produced in North Carolina?

a much superior chart would have done the renaming based on PER CAPITA GDP - relative GDP per person

that, and not the whole numbers, are more illustrative of how productive the people in a state, or nation are
