I researched tents for a few hours just now and have settled on the one below for inside the house should power go off. I noticed as I read the dimensions of tents and the customer comments that the companies are stretching the number of people they say are appropriate for a tent. Evidently, you are supposed to stack people on top of each other to get that many in.
The one I chose is 9’x7’ with height of 50 inches. I can easily accommodate a 9x7 tent in the house. It says this tent will accommodate 4 people. Well, I would only use it for two so there should be adequate room in the tent to move around a bit. This tent will help keep people warm.

Now, I'm deciding on two fold up single cots to be used inside the tent and two single size inflatable mattresses. If you are older, don't think you will be comfy on your house floor to sleep. I want to be off the floor and have some cushion underneath me. With a cot, I have a seat and could stay there during the day without much discomfort, only leaving for food and bathroom.
That’s a nifty looking tent. We had something similar for back packing and a down sleeping bag. Hubby used to set up the tent in the back yard sometimes and let the kids use it for a club house.
I have looked at those propane heaters, but even though they say they would be safe indoors, I just have doubts. We have two rooms with fireplaces. One room is an 18ft.x24ft Living/dining room with a large fireplace.
The other is a 13ftx24ft kitchen/snack family room with a little smaller fireplace. When the kids were small, we used to fire up the fireplaces and a wood stove in the basement.
It was too hot, we had to put on shorts and T shirts. LOL Hubby has the generators and some kerosene heaters that he bought for his outdoor work at night or cold weather. Can’t really use the heaters indoors though.
Now that the kids are adults and out of the house, we just put on more clothes, turn the furnace waaaay down, and run a small heater if additional heat is needed where our tv and computer areas are. We could use the generator to run the heaters, but not if it was a long term power outage. We’d save the fuel for running the water pump.
Those cots you are talking about are ok for sitting, but lousy for sleeping. I recently tried it and gave up and slept on the floor. LOL If I have my foam yoga mat, a wall to brace my back against, and a heating pad or hot water bottle, for a joint ache, I do pretty well. I even slept on the floor of my Dad’s hospital room quite often.
When the fireplace is on, there is no place better than the couch, so I’ll call dibs on that and let the kids have the floor. Hubby likes a chair or recliner, but he can sleep anywhere on most any surface no matter how hard.
