My yorkie gets between me and any perceived danger, so if their dog had a sense that something bad was on one side of the car, I don’t find it accidental that he’d get between the children and it.
He surely didn’t understand what bullets were or that he would die, but I don’t think he was protecting them by getting between them and what he perceived as danger.
I meant to say, indon’t think it was accidental he was protecting them by getting between them and what he perceived as danger.
And what’s better on TV? I wish that Lassie were still on. It was inspirational for several generations.
Actually, about 10 years ago there was a series “The New Lassie”. It was in color and modern enough that they had cell phones. The mom was a vet, and the boy had a dog named Lassie. It was great, but it was short lived. I wish they’d bring it back.
I used to live up the street from the owner/trainer of all the Lassies in Canyon Country, CA. The yard was seen from the street. Just a few pieces of equipment was all it took to teach Lassie to save Johnny from falling down the well.
On a dirt road nearby was a house that had a kennel for wolves. Oh, those eyes, the way they stared at you.
As for this German Shepherd. God Bless you, doggie. Rest a while, and you will you be united with those you loved and who loved you forever.
And God Bless all our dog heroes; we appreciate you and will love you forever. Thank you Holy Father for creating dogs to share our lives. It is another sign that you love and care for us.
Yes, dogs, orca, and dolphin are reminders of what the Garden was like, and the fellowship we will have with animals in Heaven.
It is most certain that the German Shepherd put himself in harms way to save his child and mommy. They are a noble animal, and know that honor is more valuable than life itself.

I agree with you...my dog looks out the car and willgrowl and ferociusly bark if she sees anyone she thinks may be menacing! they instictivel spring to action to protect. Its in their nature, especially with children.
The nobility of this animal and others that sacrifice and save us, gives me such gratitude to God and his gifts to us.

It is disturbing how many cities have been destroyed by a thug culture. There is nothing in Atlanta that I’d care to see.
Of course the dog didn’t think he was going to take a bullet for the family. What the dog did was take the lead out front thinking, to get to them you must go through me! Catching bullets was just inadvertent.
The German Shepherd Dog is one of the most noble animals on the face of the earth. They have no equal in the dog world. Just the best dog breed on the planet and 2nd place isn’t even close.
My dog is not allowed on my bed. Ever.
One night I dreamed that my heart was racing and I was on the brink of a heart attack if it kept on racing. I felt a sudden weight on my chest that woke me up to find my heart was racing in reality.
My dog had leaped on the bed and was laying on my chest, which woke me up. After waking, I was able to relax and get my heart rate to slow.
I’m not saying my dog saved my life from a heart attack, but it reminded me that dogs have a sense of trouble and then act without inhibition. Call it mythology or whatever you like. I just call them “dialed in” to things we miss. Whatever it is, there is deep body of history where dogs have been of great service to their owners in a wide variety of ways that defies simple explanation.
Also, with an otherwise healthy heart, simply accelerating the heart rate isn't going to cause a heart attack. That's just not how it works.
But if you prefer to believe your dog is a Guardian Angel in disguise, or otherwise anthropomorphic, that's certainly your prerogative.
I remember some wishful thinker posted a video of a dog running in front of a fire truck to a house fire. The FR wishful thinkers insisted the dog was leading the truck to the address. The reality is that the dog was doing what it had always done, viz. run in front of any vehicle to his house. He was playing.
I clearly said in my post that I didn’t believe I was going to have a heart attack and that my dog didn’t save me from one. All I said is that he sensed the abnormal racing of my heart. And no, the dog didn’t CAUSE the anxiety. I woke up as soon as he pounced on the bed and I felt his weight plop on my chest.
I will believe what I want. My dog, that is never allowed on my bed and had never been up on my bed, noticed an aberration in my physiology and took some action during that episode.
