Ya that was my recollection too. Peter Uberroth(sp) did a great job managing the financial end of things for the 1984 Olympics.
But I think part of the money end of things was the fact that LA already had many sports facilities ready. They didn’t have to build huge numbers of sports venues from.scratch as so many other Olympic host cities have done.
Exactly. And most are still in se. I think the velodrome was dismantled.
Don’t care much who hosts the Olympics, just don’t like the inaccurate comments.
One if the good things, the folks in la took their vacations then and dramatically reduced traffic

If they want it in California have it in Fresno. They love wasying money they don’t have. When I was finishing college they built a stupid stadium downtown that no one visits.
Because of global warming, in ten years isn’t it supposed to be too hot to live and the Pacific Ocean will be lapping over the Colosseum. I guess the swimming and rowing events will be good.
They seem more muslim than in 1984.
Is Peter Ueberroth still available?
Don’t know, but might be a good gig for Romney.
Looks like he’s 77 and part owner of pebble beach golf course
we should lobby the IOC not to give it to LA
I think we all know they will want “federal dollars”
Maybe Mooshelle will represent Chicago again
We’re going to build desal plants and drink the sea level down
>>The comment I responded to is not an accurate portrayal of the availibility of venues.<<
Yes, I was emphasizing your point. But, man are they SPREAD OUT!
Uberroth proved you CAN make money with the Summer Olympics — you just have to be smart.
The 100-meter Moose Call?
A cheeseburger eating contest?
Actually, both LA Olympics made money.
1984’s games utilized many existing venues and had to build very few.
A track could be put back in The Coliseum and the facility would probably get a few upgrades.
There are enough convention center space, indoor arenas and outdoor facilities between Bakersfield and San Diego to cover all that the Olympics would need.
Of course, the current bunch would find a way to make it more expensive.
New world order art, you’re supposed to be inspired to be a good sheeple when you see it.
