Buster Raccoon does not like the cold weather. He needs some motivation to wake up. TREATS!!!!
Don’t they hibernate, or at least become very inactive in winter?
He could be like Rocky in a stay in a hotel room.
Buster’s no fool. He’s all cozy under his blanket. Why should he go out?
What an annoying human. Why can’t the poor critter stay longer under the blanket, where he’s clearly content and causing no trouble?
Varmint alert GG.....bring your gun!
What a cute raccoon, but why does he need to go outside? Why don’t they litter train him (assuming they can be litter trained) so he doesn’t have to go out into the cold?
No, they don’t hibernate. You can find just as many dead ones on the side of the road in winter as in summer (ok, you could if you could see under the snow).
We had one as an OUTSIDE pet when I was a kid, needle sharp teeth but lots of fun. Once she went into heat she just left though. She did get her picture in the Racine, WI paper once; playing with the neighbor’s German Shepard.
They sure are cute when they are just lil guys... soon he will be a big nasty bastard.
I’ve got ‘em around my place all year long. They get along fine with my other critters, but they love to get into my shed and pull my tools out.LOL!
I had a permit once upon a time to raise 2 babies who lost their mother. I bottle fed them around the clock and they were tame until mating season, and then the male got meaner than a rattlesnake. I had to turn him loose. The female never did get mean, but climbed a telephone pole and was electrocuted.
Nasty critters, raccoons. I always used to run them off, until once this big, big raccoon instead of running off, looked straight at me and grinned and started walking over (I understand that’s a sign of rabies). I got inside and put a blanket over my head — now I’m right skeered of raccons.
We kept a few orphans in my youth until they got big enough to start getting mean.
Funny as heck to watch them go at an egg
Years ago I purchased 2 crayfish and threw them into the pond. Apparently one was a male and one was a female, so before long I had dozens. They've been gone for some time now, and may be why the coons homesteaded under my deck. They're out every night and seem to fear me little. Can't say the same about the dogs, though.
He needs to do his business outside, maybe?
A friend told me about the hilarity of giving them sugar cubes... as they instinctively wash all their food if there is water there.
They grab the sugar cube with their little hands and try to wash it and it dissolves and they can’t figure out what is going on and just keep taking sugar cubes and washing them.
gee, that is sweet. Thank you.....NOT I still yell “good going” when I spot a dead one.. hope your doing well....GG
I got the shot gun, but still need more practice...GG
