A nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa and publicly fought quarantine orders in New Jersey and Maine after returning to the United States last month has decided to move away from her home state, a newspaper in Maine reported. Kaci Hickox and her boyfriend, Ted Wilbur, plan to leave Maine after Nov. 10, or the expiration of the monitoring period for the virus' 21-day incubation, according to the Press Herald newspaper.

From the Daily Caller

Ebola health care worker Kaci Hickox, who was released from quarantine with the support of the White House, is a Centers For Disease Control and Prevention employee, records reveal. The lawyer who helped earn her release is a recent White House state dinner guest.

Hickox was released from Ebola quarantine in Newark, N.J., Monday afternoon after the White House pressured New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to release the nurse that was working in Sierra Leone with Doctors Without Borders. Hickox’s case for release was also bolstered by New York civil rights attorney Norman Siegel, who took on Hickox’s case.

She will probably have a very tough time finding a new job. Maybe she’ll go back to Africa.

I can’t imagine who would want to buy their house.

She is from Texas and licensed there. She was in Maine becuase her boyfriend is/was a student at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. It has never been explained why he was in school at the far northern reach of Maine.

She went to college in Texas and got her license in Texas but she can practice in other states.

She likely wound up in court because someone went after her license. They indeed had grounds. While she claims to have beaten the mandatory quarantine, she did IN FACT not.

I'm sure she is still employed by CDC...was paid during the quarantined period and will simply write papers until she wants to do a little traveling again.

Peer pressure can have consequences for those who are deemed to care more about pettiness than those who dwell around them.

Maybe she can stay in the Lincoln bedroom?

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Boyfriend Wilbur had nursing college problems because of his closeness to her, and is therefore unhappy.

He said ““I asked for something more protective,” Wilbur said. “I did not feel safe, secure or supported by the campus officials, [and] I will now pursue my nursing degree at another institution.” (Bangor Daily News)

Wow, just wow. Guess he can’t relate that to the feeling of the people in their community regarding safety and protection from a possible deadly disease outbreak.

______________

Nursing schools in the state have one to three year waits for slots. So people go where they are accepted. There are community colleges in northern Maine because that is how laws get passed in Maine, the south part of the state wants something and gives the northern reps some money for the colleges.

My son looked at college up there. He said, Mom, there is nothing to do up there except snowmobile and go to the gym. There isn’t even enough of a population for a ski slope. All the kids up there have PRISON BODIES, ALL OF THEM, MOM.
