Generation X has finally arrived

I just have to say how proud I am of our Gen X politicians. It is clear that our country is in good hands and the future is bright. I just want to give a pat on the back the following:

Gen X leaders like the following superstars:

Governor Scott Walker, Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.), Senator Rand Paul Senator Ted Cruz Senator Tom Cotton Senator Jonie Earnst Senator Cory Gardner Senator James Lankford Senator Tim Scott Senator Mike Lee Rep Steve Scalise Rep Richard Hudson Rep Jeff Duncan Governor Matt Blunt Rep Sean Duffy

These poor folks have so much work to do from the boomer disaster known as Clinton, Bush II, and Obama.....so sad!

We really should have went from Reagan to Gen X...........I really believe that Gen X is going to be WAY more conservative than the Boomers ever even thought of.

Yes I am extremely proud today of the United States of America and all those born between 1965 and 1980. We just might save this great nation!!!!!!

* No this is not a hate boomer thread.....My parents are boomers so no I don't hate boomers.....I just hate the leadership of Boomers except maybe Sarah......Allen West and many many here on FR.

I hope you are correct.

I once thought surely our gen would be influenced by the great ‘80s and Reagan but seems like they are no better. I am talking voters, too.

I’m and the wife are late boomers, which isn’t really the same thing at all.

The rise of Gen X political power was predicted in the book "The Fourth Turning" by William Strauss & Neil Howe. His other predictions are tracking too. We are set for a massive civil and global war sometime in the 2020s.

You are 100 million times correct. I am embarrassed I left this great conservative off the list.

Surely those of the generation who grew up aware of how Reagan differed from Carter (growing up with both in office) could be called Generation Reagan.

There were a bunch of angry leftists in the same generation who despised Reagan (and demonized him in all kinds of ways) but much of their hate was hysteria about things that never came to pass (Reagan is going to start WWIII, nuclear bombs detonating, etc. AIDS would be cured if ONLY Reagan had done something sooner, spent more money, etc...). The “homeless” problem is only ever noted by the media when Republicans are in office so expect it to return in 2017 or so...

I’m not quite old enough to remember Carter while he was in office, given than I was born in 1980, but I can remember events from an age quite a bit younger than most of my peers and I certainly remember the miserable effect he had on the country. I remember the bitter liberals particularly well, most of them were my teachers, everyone else I knew loved Reagan. It’s just sad to me that my political awareness started around 1983 to 1984 and was fully developed by the time Gorbachev came to power, while many of my peers can’t remember anything about politics or government before Monica Lewinsky.

Consider what people who grew up in the Depression were like when they were young adults (and, in fact, for the rest of their lives), and then consider the hundreds of billions of dollars of education and talent moldering in their Mom and Dad’s basements right now.

When they get out, and they will, I believe that they will be pretty hard-nosed conservative adults.
