Lisa Ling has teamed up with CNN for her new show, This is Life with Lisa Ling, ...
On Sunday, the episode will recount Lings trip to Santa Fe and her visit to the International Gay Rodeo Association, which today has over 5,000 registered members. The episode was filmed in July and Ling and her crew spent a week in the City Different.
The gay rodeo story was one of my favorites, she said during an interview. ...
What drew Ling to the story is its juxtaposition.
Rodeos are controversial to some extent and we really dont know that there is a gay rodeo circuit, she says.
Weve grown up seeing cowboy culture as extremely masculine and stoic, she said. The visions of John Wayne and the Marlboro man are etched into our minds when we hear the term cowboy. This story defies that.
Ling was surprised when she set foot on the Santa Fe Rodeo grounds. It was because she found this group of people as fierce competitors.
This was a serious event for them and its hugely competitive, she said. A lot of the cowboys and cowgirls are proud of their sexual orientation and this is a place where they can be free.
Shes sensitive to the emotional stories, particularly in the gay community. ...
As an Asian American, I grew up in a not so diverse community, she said. I was teased for my race. My heart goes out to the people who have experienced those kind of struggles and we all have stories of discrimination. Its unfortunate that discrimination exists in todays society.

I saw another episode of her show, which was all about sugar daddies and sugar baby college students. You can guess what was involved there. I wonder if she is trying to be a more stylish version of Jerry Springer or Maury Povich or Dr. Phil?
gag....unpleasant mental picture.
What is this “CNN” you speak of?
They’re just in it for the chaps.
she was “teased”?...right....doubt that.....
They are riding broke back.
I’ve always wondered, somewhat squeamishly, how one demonstrates eligibility to enter such an event.
Gives new meaning to the term Cow Poke!
sorry...gotta a little sick...
“how one demonstrates eligibility”
Ride a bucking bronco sidesaddle? Doesn’t sound easy.
Gay cowboys scream "---- That Rider!"
My reaction, too, unless she grew up in an urban Black community where discrimination is common against anyone who doesn't follow Bro's lead.
More filth culture for the excremental left to wallow in.
Wow, steers and queers in one place and not in Texas...
Never heard of a rodeo with no animals.
Ahhh yes take me back to boot camp...The Kubrick clip is just so to the point.
