Vin Scully is fine with the idea of mentoring his potential successor in the Dodgers' broadcasting booth ...
"I would hope something would be developed for the future," Scully said. "I wouldn't want to leave them in the lurch." ...

Would also be interesting to have one local from each team.

At least for the home games....and maybe have the ‘visiting’ guy available for comments when the announcers all have kittens because a team sacrificed in the 1st inning with 2 on nobody out.....Small Ball is Small Ball and if the ‘Pros’ can’t figure it out etc etc...
At least when something the experts think is ‘controversial’ the guy that has been following the team can inform then they pulled that stunt during the regular season.
Better than to hear them drone on and one saying nothing AND not know what they are talking about.
Having a protege is a fine idea. Pick up dry cleaning, give risk management seminars, prepare Ovaltine.
Nobody right now holds a candle to Kruk and Kuip.
Rojas and Guby of the Angels always seem to be sharing private jokes.
Typically classy of Scully to help train his replacement.
I know what you mean. I have been listening to the Dodgers on radio since 1958 and when I listen now, its rock and rap music with screaming announcers during the pregame show until Scully comes on then everything is alright. I just can't stand the yelling and screaming of some of these modern so called "sports announcers." ABC Sports Radio is one of the worst. Give me a break!
It like when Chick Hearns finally died people were devasted on that loss
I do remember it was all star game I THINK SO
Some people think Ronnie was strugging I think he did fine

Game 6 of the 1986 World Series re-enacted in RBI Baseball
You don't have to be a Mets fan to enjoy this.

Was wondering if anyone else ‘noticed’ that for the MLB/TBS/ESPN ‘exclusive’ broadcasts of the playoffs that the stands background noise was ‘super excessive’ (it kind of reminded me of the ‘canned laughter’ in so called comedy shows) and as much as I ‘hate’ the majority of announcers if they say something the crowd noise shouldn’t be overriding the babble they are putting out.
Also, the few times I ‘saw’ Cal Ripken, his seemingly ‘lack of knowledge’ of basics caught me off guard.... Not trying to take anything away from him he just seemed ‘lost’ at times.
Just wondering etc....seemed ‘back to normal’ for the FOX coverage ???
I’ve said this before...Listening to Vin call a Dodger game is akin to savoring a fine wine. He is the finest story teller and wordsmith ever to grace us Dodger fans. No, make that sports fans. He has no equal.
Scully outlived Lurch.
