Force Academy because it had a culture that tolerated rape. Alexis Jones-Hardy told Channel 2 Action News that she quit the academy in 2012 after an attack on her and on other students. She said women who reported the attacks were treated harshly by classmates. “I kept saying, ‘Stop, stop, I’m not having sex with you,’” Jones-Hardy told the news station. “I must have said no at least 30 times.”

At least the don't tolerate Christianity of mentioning Jesus. Something had to fill the void and since they embarked on their anti Christian crusade several years ago, nothing but problems have come their way. Deservedly so.

A friend in the service who has a higher rank told me that not only is sexual assault skyrocketing in the military, same sex assaults are at the core.

Not your father’s military.

I guess I’m just old and jaded, but why is this claim so incredulous to me? It would seem, if anything, the military is SO attuned to these kinds of problems and claims now their whole OPS plans and structure is geared to stop it.

Doesn’t training to be an officer include having the courage to SPEAK OUT and REPORT these crimes, even if you get treated badly afterwards?! If a bunch of cadets can make you cower, how are you to lead troops in battle? It is not right that these women are attacked but their silence baffles me.

Timely...Personally, I hope and pray that the AF will make a specific determination to commission a man of extremely high moral character. I am confident that this officer will stand strong against the tide of immorality and ultimately bring honor to the USAF.
He’s my son.

“Alexis Jones-Hardy told Channel 2 Action News that she quit the academy in 2012”

I wonder if it is just me, but these little hits seem to be 90+% from FORMER cadets. My thought is Alexis Jones-Hardy flunked out of the Academy and this is an attempt to make herself out to be a martyr rather than a failure. Actually, if you think about it with exception of political hits, the vast majority of these vile accusations come from disgruntled former employees, lovers, associates and other “formers”.

I will reserve judgement on the sexual assault increasing in the Military. Clearly there is more sensitivity thus more reporting and accusations. I heard that in the Airforce they can not get Airmen to be TI’s (Drill Sergeants) because of the liability. AF has forced duty on Airman by restricting non-commission officer promotions until they have a TI rotation. TIs are never alone with trainees, i.e., witness is always present.

Not your father’s military.

In my Father's military, anyone who tried that (same sex assault) would be wounded in the next engagement. Not fatal, but enough to be shipped out permanently.

For most of my twenty years in the AF, I only noted same sex assault occurring on one occasion....the AF was quick to put the guy up for assault, find adequate reasons for jail-time, and bad conduct discharge.

After I retired, in one single year....we had two high profile same sex assault cases on Ramstein. Both end up in very public court martial settings. Both were using alcohol with younger members and enticing them. Almost within a month of each other, the courts found both guilty and were sentenced off to a couple of years in prison, and BC discharge. The gut feeling around the base was that it was a warning about how harsh they’d react when it occurs. Later, I brought this up with an Army guy in Europe, who said that they probably handle twenty-odd cases a year like this and just shove the guys out of the service.

I am going to add to your point from my observations and witness accounts about the AFA. To me, the academy system is dated and needs an overhauled. First, Congressional appointments should probably be thrown out. Also, in today’s world, most 18 year olds are not ready for academy life. More of the non-appointed cadets are coming from the enlisted ranks within the services. In fact I have a friend whose son appointment to the Annapolis was to first enlist in the Naval nuclear program for two years and then transfer to Annapolis as a sophomore. The Airforce is reserving more slots for enlisted personal. To me, get these outstanding men and women in the enlisted ranks first to understand the heavy lifting of military life, then the Academy.

So she shoplifted and was caught. I guess that little escapade had absolutely nothing to do with her removal from the AFA. She is a disgruntled con artist. She was hoping to fool lots more people, but there are a few she didn’t.

An ABC News investigation revealed that leads developed, in part by an undercover cadet, led to the court martial of two football players for sexual assault and the dismissal or resignation of 15 other cadets.

As on most college campuses, football players are a protected species.

If your daughter were raped at a college, don’t you think she might not want to go there any longer?

And the ones that DO report, you never hear about.

This happens all over the country. Not just at Military Academies.

If the Academies acted like they did in the past, these problems would not exist. At least not to the degree. One of the issues is the PC world that has grown up.

I am not advocating a return to the world of hazing. But I advocating to a return to fundamental military principles. They can learn about the PC world of real mil life during the summer assignments.

Each Academy has a mission. They should operate to that end.

What a ridiculous comment.
