Maine Gov. Paul LePage has sent state law enforcement to the home of nurse Kaci Hickox, USA Today reported Wednesday.
Earlier Wednesday, LePage said he would seek out the support of state police to keep the nurse, who recently returned to the United States from treating Ebola patients in West Africa, in isolation. According to USA Today, state police cars are now stationed outside Hickox's home. ___________
Kaci Hickox told NBC's "Today" show and ABC's "Good Morning America" that she was abiding by the state's voluntary quarantine by having no contact with people Tuesday and Wednesday. But she said she will defy the state if the policy isn't changed by Thursday.
"I don't plan on sticking to the guidelines," Hickox said on "Today." ''I remain appalled by these home quarantine policies that have been forced upon me even though I am in perfectly good health."
blah blah blah blah.....

LePage is a solid, common sense conservative. Liberals HATE him.
I don't think he'll let her get away with breaking the quarantine.

Interesting article, and gave me some information I did not have. I question the accuracy of the data, given that methods of determining fever were not consistant and in some cases, relied upon the opinion of the patient.
I still stand by my assertation that you cannot deprive a person of their liberty without due process. Thst process can not be someone simply by governmental fiat, no matter how much we like the official dictating the detainment.
I deliberately draw a parallel with gun rights. Guns are feared by large segments of our population, and they firmly believe that people carryng guns are a direct threat to their life. We know it’s warrantless, but that doesn’t stop their fear. Should we scap the second amendment to assuage their fears? Should we scrap the fourth amendment to assuage yours?
Unambiguously demonstrate the threat, secure detainment through clear cut legal means (can the governer singlehandedly detain a person with no juducial order?) and I will support it. But I will not give my support to depriving someone of their God given right to liberty without that.

I think you meant asymptomatic and therefore not infectious. Somewhere I posted on the Ebola Surveillance Thread about a report from Doctors Without Boarders in Liberia. They reported asymptomatic super carriers. The two they mentioned I believe were young teens. They had no fever nor overt symptoms of viral shedding.
The entire meme of not being infectious until fever is CDC messaging. Over 12% of patients never develop a fever while becoming symptomatic. That is in the WHO reports. Logic would indicate that ebola patients are still infectious prior to the 88% who develop fever. They are more infectious when they become symptomatic and shed virus with feces, vomit and blood. During the end stage of the disease as in the case of Duncan, they expel up to 8 liters a day of mostly diarrhea and vomit.

The anti-quarantine people are engaging in obscurantism.
Thank you for forcing me to look up a new word. That is exactly what they are doing.

Sorry, Kaci, but potential hazards to public health don’t get to set “deadlines”.

I guess most Americans don’t know what’s going on. Obama wants our Military to be quarantined out of the country and yet he wants to bring in Ebola patients to be treated here!!
Kaci Hickox is a ‘cry baby’.
